    Great Stag Highborn problem

I have been recently thinking of new builds for wood elves which might work and came across putting a highborn with dawn spear and the stubborn thing for the unit he joins to a unit of treekins. I thought it was a good idea to put him to a unit of 7 treekins for a 2x4 formation until I saw the base sizes. The great stag is on a 50x50 base while treekins are on a 40x40 base. Is there any rules which says that you can't change base sizes? If there is then is it still good to put a highborn into the unit?

Base sizes are supposed to be fixed, though often GW doesn't tell us what that base size is supposed to be. Seems like a decent plan to keep those treekin in combat. Of course the highborn will have to be a wild rider kindred, but I assume you knew that.

i doubt anyone will complaint if you use a 40x40 base for your stag. I can't find anywhere in the books that specificly tells that you have to use a 50x50 base.

ok... based on this - I have just rebased my stag to 40x40base so he can fit in with my treekin

50x50 base was useful in 7th ed to go with wild riders - I dont use wild riders anymore..

The last official list says that stags, like unicorns have to be on 50x50 bases. In friendly games, I doubt it will matter, but you probably wouldn't get away with that in a tournament.

    Problem sorted.

I now have the Stag on a 40x40 Base fully flocked. But incase, I also have a 50x50 Base painted and flocked with a 40x40 square gap inside to place the stag if needed.

Can just mount up ontop of the 50x50 if needed. Best of both world.
