I'm going to pick up some wood elves stuff and I wanted to check out what you guys thought of the battalion boxes. Are they a good value? Good start to a WE army?
I was going to grab the army book and two battalion boxes. Hopefully that will give me a decent starter army.
I may have a lil cash left over to add something on, maybe a few way watchers?
I ended up buying a battalion box, spellweaver, and 6 treekin.
Made about 1500 point army out of them.
With a little creativity, a battalion goes a long way. Glade Riders are absolute garbage and need to be converted into Wild Riders. Dryads are fine as the are, but can easily be converted into Treekin, and Glade Guard are the best archers in the game. I like to take a big block of them, put a level 4 beastweaver with a Rhymer's harp in there and take people by surprise when they're suddenly taking a ton of S4 hits from a T4 unit with a 5++ save.
Way Watchers are far too overcosted for what they do anymore. Their unique deployment has been taken over by anything with the Scout rule, and Killing blow doesn't warrant them costing twice as much as a Glade guard.
