Welcome to Librarium Online!
So I am new to WE. Is it worth taking Musicians with my Glade Guard?
Please could you also have a look over my list in the army list sub forum!
My understanding is that they're more beneficial than other command-group upgrades due to the leadership and swift reform bonuses it provides (see p.95 of the rulebook). I've included them in my GG units.
Musicians are well worth their points because they let you perform what is called a "Swift Reform" as exbar said. What this does, is it basically let's you change the facing and/or shape of your unit without counting as having marched so long as the unit moved less than it's march distance (if you march, you can't shoot with exceptions being skirmishers and fast cavalry). Since our guys have M5 and no penalties for moving and shooting, that means out maneuverability is only that much better, so I always recommend musicians in our Glade Guards.
40k: Silver Angels of Our Martyred Lady 7/2/3 - Daemons of the Great Squiggle! 3/1/0
Fantasy: Windhost of Athel'Loren 2/0/0 - Daemons of Another Great Squiggle! 0/0/0
Warmahordes: Legion of Everblight (Absylonia)
WE definately need swift reform in order to counter threats more effectively (and shoot them to death!)
Ok, so musicians are worth it. Cool.
/me hijacks the thread.
How about the other command options?
Is it worth including a standard and/or champion?
My daughter has just started wood elves and I'm about to assemble her glade guard from the battalion box.
Standard bearer- good to have some only for the blood and glory scenario. I tend to give half my units a banner.
Champion- Only good if there is a character in the unit. I would make one.
I am right 94% of the time, why worry about the other 3%.
