Hmm, an interesting, very wood-elfy twist with the spring making them a part of the forest, captures the capricious nature of the forest well. As has already been said, some proofreading is needed for spelling and grammar.

I don't know how many words you have used, but perhaps you could intersperse diary excerpts with short sections from the perspective of a scholar or wizard reading it, kind of like I've done here:

Apologies for using my own work as an example, it was all I had to hand. By doing this you could add extra character and dimension to the story.

I might just run a spell check on it and add a few adjectives. I seriously do really suck at writing, I can think of an idea, but I express it poorly, and I like the idea of what your recommending but I don't think I am capable.
