Welcome to Librarium Online!
i think they have ther place in a WE army but they may not be suted to some roles
Yes people i know that my spelling and punctuation is awful but I am product of British teaching pollicies so what can I do about it?
Treemen hold up units better. Dryads fight better. Why gain a rank bonus with GG when you could take away the enemies rank bonus w/ glade riders for a fraction of the cost? Put them up against 40 points worth of goblins and i garuntee they will have a hard time breaking though them. Their LD is alright. But most importantly, they will be the only viable target for artillery and such on the feild. With the rest of your army on the flanks or cowering behind woods, the glade gaurd will be picked out easily. And unlike other armies, you arent really drawing fire away from your other units so much as letting the opponent do SOMETHING useful with his own shooting. For 2 more points you get a saursus, for 1 more point you get HE spearmen, for 2 LESS points you get DE spearmen, the list goes on and on of the units that simply do much beter than GG for about the same cost. They are overrated and too high in points cost, hands down.
Yes, as stated above, Glade Guard are WAY to overpriced. High Elf Spearmen over overpriced, but at least they dish out many more attacks. When you have good core fast cav and archers, there's no need to have spearmen. Wood Elves are all about maneuverability, and speamen just dont do that very well.
-My Warrior Priest will challenge your Chaos Lord
-OK, my Chaos lord will slaughter you
-My warrior priest with Van Hortsmen's Speculum will take his 7 Str 8 attacks. You die.
-Take your model off the table, he's dead
i agree with lotr88 in they are to expensive
Agile as a wildcat.
Deadly as a serpent.
Strong as a bear.
Graceful as a eagle.
Fear o' foe!
For the wardancers are.
8 points naked, not so good stats, they dont fit with the rest of the army
I use them to hold up cavalry . I know they are going to get slaughterd but then my other units can charge. They have a porpuse sometimes but it dosnt mean I like them.

The tyranids will rip you to peices as soon as they rip your friends
I agree with most people on here, they are overpriced compared to other armies core guys... but our book hasn't received a rewrite like the others, so their cost might come down when the new version comes out.
As for liking them, I used to not like them, as dryads seemed to do much better and with the same point cost, t4 with a ward save I didn't see the point in taking archers, recently I have started taking 2 units of 10 to fill my core and although they do tend to take a fair amount of heat from enemy fire, if setup up correctly my opponents seems to worry more about them getting into short range then about the wildriders moving up the flank.
And against other armies fast cav they really do shine
I do wish they had an armor save though....
Actually this poll came out before the release of our current book. You seem to have went way back in the archives for this one.
Gotta check the dates.
I am right 94% of the time, why worry about the other 3%.
lol major revisit i hope those people still have this page tagged imagine getting to your e-mails and seeing your 5 year old post is being resurrected they are expensive but you have to consider that they can do alot of stuff most other shotting units cant
strength 4 half range bows which i always thought was the middle finger to charging units
move and fire with no penalty (go elfy shuffle)
high fight value and shooting value
so they are well priced
I think the first clue to this page being old is the fact that someone said glade guard are spearmen which they were till the recent army book
no if you excuss me i have to go bring the last post in the archieve back to life
My main battle problem is i take uber units as a challenge as to how many units i have to throw at it before it dies rather then tactical bring it down
Archion in a unit of 50 chosen Knights back up the Dryad Truck Larry
sorry guys, it was me that revisited this post when i clicked 'yes i love them on the poll, not realising it was olf rules being talked about.
Feel free to discuss tho !!
