there is a small possibility that i will play wood elves and was just wondering if i should pre order the battalion box? Does anyone know if they will be over/under powered or a well balanced army?
tnks in advance
it is a good force to start out with as it gives you speed, shooter, and semi-shock troops and has good manuverability and is good for starter games if you add a hero. But mainly meant to build upon and do your own thing from there.
P.S. Does anyone know when the battalion box will come out?
i don't know when the box is released exatctly, but i know that it is some time next month, and it is a well balanced army.
It comes out August 1st and it is indeed a well balanced army. I think GW has done a fine job on the new wood elves.Originally Posted by hit 'em hard
I preordered the codex on GW's site, but does that mean that it would come in near when the army deal comes out? Hopefully not too much later...
Pre-orders normally arrive a week or two prior to the general release, so not too long before or too close to it.
I just ordered the Battalian Box, a regiment of some Glade Guard Archers and the Army Book! I'm really excited about this fresh look to the army.
Now I have to decide whether I want to paint them like the Night Elf Sentinels from Warcraft III, or the Kokiri elves from the Legend of Zelda. Heheh
Damnit those models look BOSS!
Im quit familiar with both games and i think they would both look cool.
So, what comes in the Battalion box? (The battlion box is FAntasy's version of 40K's battleforce, right?- thinking of making a wood elf army...)
40K armies: Tyranids (2001), Space Wolves (2008), Sisters of Battle (2011)

You get 24 plastic Glade Gaurdians (Archers). I saw some scans of the new sprues and they look fantastic. They have four archers to a sprue with lots of cloaked heads, and lots of unlcoaked heads, so you can model some Glade Guardians as Scouts if you want.
You also get eight Glade Riders. These models look incredible too!
And finally you get 12 Dryads. I can't wait to get my order so I can start reading up on how the Wood Elves play.
I'm a short time WHFB player (Tomb Kings) and I'm looking forward to starting Wood Elves because I can then actually play a more balanced list (My Tomb Kings army relies heavily on the Tomb King to do all the damage (ie. Hero Hammer, bleh) Skeletons are pretty crappy)
