The Battalion box is a pretty good first buy. At 100 bucks, it has 12 Dryads (enough to turn one into a Branchwraith hero pretty easily) 8 Glade Riders (awesome) and 24 Glade Guard (which are important as your mainline missile troops).

If you pick this up (about 600 points wiithout unit upgrades) then yeah, a Noble and Spellsinger give you a real good start.

The Glade Guard and Dryads are both coming out soon, along with Treekin, Waywatchers, and the Waywatcher lord. Treekin, I'm pretty sure, are alread out, and three of those is a pretty decent 195 point investment. You should probably pick up some Waywatchers and try them, unless you're really dead-set against that style of unit (super scouty guys) and the Waywatcher lord model is quite excellent (though actually paying the points to make a Noble of the Waywatcher Kindred is rarely going to be worth it--you can always play him as a Waywatcher champion, or just a normal noble)

That puts you at 1000 points easily and with another box of dryads and another box of Glade Guard, you could be up to 1500 no problem.

After that (or maybe even before extra Dryads and Glade Guard), I'd wait for wardancers, wild riders of kurnous, and most importantly Eternal Guard to come out (you'll want some Eternal Guard for sure).

    Hope that helps.

The waywatcher lord model would make for a good sniper alter kindred. Also if you really wanted to play higher point games you could turn 3 out of 12 of the dryads you get into branch wraiths and later when you get whatever heroes you want to use at 2000pts than you can change them to unit champions. Also, in the mean time you could order some archive models from GW. I think the high elf everqueen would make a nice spellcaster.

<=1000 points is a great pointage to specialise into a particular aspect if you want a victory roll

go either all mounted, all GG or dryads and learn how to win with the units... then expand beyond 1k tbh

Well buying just a unit of Glade Guard will give you 2 units...1 unit of 10 Glade Guard and 1 unit of 6 Scouts. Next thing to buy is a box of Dryads. There's your unit of Dryads with a branchwraith(optional). I personally would buy waywatchers next (5-6). Then after a noble you will have about 650 points in which you can buy wardancers and wild riders.

I dont advice in getting Eternal Guard, Frist because they are EXPENSIVE, and Second because Dryads are the same amount of points yet are a lot more maneoverable and more tough...

However, EG can fight in 2 ranks, are stubborn with a hero, and can get rank bonuses and negate ranks. I'd say the bonuses and negatives more than even out. A unit of EG would make a nice unit ot hold an object or take charges.

The only reason I prefer dryads over EG, is that it doesn't matter than your unit fighting in the front of the another unit has rank bonuses, alone as the unit that flanks is, and since EG are not going to be used as flankers, it seems better to use dryads to attack the front and do massive damage, then flank with Glade Riders, Wild Riders or Treekin.

I prefer dryads just because they look so damn cool.... I think everyone agrees with me there. I'd still take a unit or two of EG, though, the only problem being that they cost so much money for only 10.... I wish they came in packs of 16.....
