I think I know the answer to these questions.
Has anybody used them before? I want to take 2 as war machine hunters. If there is only 3 crewman it just has to do one wound to win combat. (I don't remember if war machines always have a unit strength of 4 or if they have a unit strength of the crew). What other tactics have people thought of for them? I see warmachines and other shooting as a big problem for wood elf armies. Af my worries misplaced or in the right place. I think I end up with about 60 points left in my army and dont' really know what to do with it.
Most war machines only have 3 crew and do not count their machine in close combat, so that would make their unit strength 3. Yeah, in the game that I played against the elves they had a hard time taking out my artillery pieces. He tried to shoot at them but the distribution of hits placed most of the hits on the machine. It's best to get something to engage them in close combat. Warhawks would work well too.
Mage hunting. For Wood Elves, their new dread and doom are Mages. I heard many a bad experience from a person who lost dispelling a spell and signed his doom. Magic is Wood Elves' doom, keep that in mind.
Shooting comes second.
90% of the game is forcing armour saves, i have no problem with that, i have no armour save XD
essentially anything that can wound us with no recourse is a bad one for the woodies
although i am starting to come round to the idea that woodies should have life as a second spell list avaliable to all spellcasters with the singers being able to choose from - loren, life, light (NOT HEAVENS) and maybe.. death.
just remember when oyu are facing the empire blackpowder line... "i have 6" more shooting than you!"
return of the mighty SNAKE MAN!
except for cannons and mortars (which can cover an entire 20 model block of spearmen) or huntsmenOriginally Posted by Lord Foamy
Another use for the Eagles is March Blocking, so you shooters get more turns to shoot at the oncoming hordes.Originally Posted by The Green Knight
What ticks me off is that great eagles are w3 and a2!!! Shouldn't it be the other way around, and I kind of want it to be the other way around because if you are smart you won't let them get hit, and 2 attacks means your lucky to kill one war machine crewman.
True, but the higher ws and strength Gives you a good shot of wounding and not getting wounded. If it were the other way around and there would be a much better chance of taking it out with a d3 would warmachine.
