Welcome to Librarium Online!
hello all, i was wondering, why do i see so little treeman anciants?, they can be so deadly in a chalange (annoyance of netling) and treesinging twice a turn!
I have to admit they are very expensive.
Any comment about this matter?
Thank you all in advance.
As you have already mentioned, Treeman Ancients are expensive. But are they worth the extra cost compared to an ordinary Treeman?
A Treeman Ancient costs 40 points more than a Treeman, all for:
- +1 Leadership
- an extra bound Treesinging spell
- the ability to take 100 points worth of spites only (and this would further increase an already expensive character)
A downside is that not only do they take a valuable Lord choice, they also take up a Rare choice. This really does limit your army composition in these two areas, especially with under 3000 point battles. Taking a Treeman Ancient also means that you will probably forgo taking a Highborn, meaning that Eternal Guard will not be Core, adding more strain onto your Special choices.
In any case, I'd prefer to spread my points out instead of cramming them all into one big Treeman Ancient.
One big, cannonball eating, treeman ancient.Originally Posted by Schmeag
I don't suppose the Ancient could join a squad of, say Tree-Kin, to get some 'Look out Sir!' rolls....I mean, they're not that much smaller than the Treeman.
It specifically says under Treeman Ancients that they can't join units.Originally Posted by Grey
Um...I've got the book in front of me....where does it say that?
Sorry, it's under the Forest Spirits special rule entry, not the Treeman Ancients entry.Originally Posted by Grey
Thanks. I wouldn't have looked for it there.
You know, someone might want to let the folks at GW know about a little invention called an index.
Unfortunately, GW is horrible at organization with Army Books, and sadly wood elves are one of the best organized.
Cannonballs = stupid
They seem to totally control the game, and it keeps most armies from using any good big creature. I don't get how they are that amazingly powerful. I know cannons are powerful, but sheesh a cannon taking down a dragon almost as easily as a foot trooper is ridiculous.
