Thank to some of you guys, I was finally able to decide what list I was to revample my WE with (the all cavalry that is ^_^) and for an original bit of work, why not make it a centaur army?

Here's my first wave, afterward I'll post it up in the conversion section:

They look very good, so far. 'Very well done.
It should be pretty seamless when they're painted.

My concern is: aren't Centaurs a Chaos Dwarf unit?

That's Bull Centaurs, or centigors for beastmen, there's a slight diferent ^_^

I always thought the Wild Riders of Kournos should have appeared more...foresty. They're not entirely Elves anymore, right? Centaur forms would work for them.

excellent looking models, I can't wait to see the finished pics.

HAve you started fluff for this army. IMO centaurs would like in plain regions not forests. However, I believe that while the Forest spirits may not be happy with it the WE will in the long term accept any creature who lives in harmony with the forest.

Fluffwise, I think the easiest answer to ''where were they?'' would be simple: In the warded southwest part of Athel Loren, where the mad treemen and thier handmaiden dryads where kept imprisoned. Every prison needs guardians.

(and now back to reality) how do you plan to paint them? if you'd allow me to be a stupid american teenager for a moment i'd suggest going with a purplish skin and grey for the horse bodies, like the Night Elves from Warcraft, and the fluff kinda fits as they too are guardians in a sense

I haven't decided yet on a color scheme, but the horse bodies will vary from dark grey to light browns and my general will have a black, the spellsingers white.

For my Highborn, I am using the Archaon horse (I will have to file the Rider's legs) and Orion toso (wich I will have to cut clean, a harder thin to do for me)

The upper bodies you used, are those WW models?

It think the paint scheme for the horsebodies is excellent. I assume their (head)hair will resemble the color of their lower body?
What color will their clothes be? I think leathery brown and Camo green might be good.

the colour scheme is very good idea and the fluff wise makes sense however i must ask two questions

why part elves? to say they became centaurs speaks of chaos which the wood elves would kill on sight Could you not have used other bodies (maybe bare chested catachans) to make them seem denizens of the forest instead of wood elf relations. Centaurs are portrayed as either great philosophers of the stars (narnia, harry potter) or wild savage feral creatures (greek mythology hercules program)
second question
what rules will you be using for them?

The idea is good but flawed as GW stated numerous times that centaurs would not be part of the wood elf force.
