I am thinking of wood elves or dwarves and i was wondering some of the tactics and the standard army list of wood elves, i love the whole move and can still shoot thing it kicks major butt.
The pull of the short rounds is a strong one but from what i have read wood elves are pretty cool to so any hints and tips you give might get another battallion to fight under your flag!
Dwarfs and WE are pretty much armies with opposite tactics. Dwarfs tend to be defensive, the ones that get charged while destroying their foes with rounds and rounds of artillery and gunpowder. WE on the other hand choose their fights, and the hit and run tactics.
Since I play neither army but my LM tend to have more trouble with Dwarfs than WE. WE fall to the flaming sprouts of my sallies. Not to mention their T3 can't withstand much attacks by a charging unit of Saurus Warriors with S4 and 2 attacks each. :ninja: Also, their bowmen won't be causing my Saurus Warriors to panic anytime soon due to LM cold blood rule. Though, wardancers are quite fun to play with as are Treekins and Treemen. And what's cooler than blackening the entire sky with your arrows?
If you DO plan on starting WE, the battalion is a great idea. With tons of GG and a decent amount of dryads and glade riders, its a good warband start. Perhaps getting a box of Wardancers or a Warhawk Rider or two can really spice things up. Don't forget the fear-causing Treekin. Also don't underestimate the spellsinging abilities of spellsingers. Waywatchers can also add a nice punch.
WHFB: Warbands/Border Patrol
I'd go WE. Bbut that's a personal preference. I play neither but have played many times against both. I'm not going to say one is easier to beat then the other because it all depends on what you are facing. The problem I have with dwarves is their limited uses. I can personally come up wih several ways to play them but most dwarf armies are boringly similar these days. Which BTW is not the fault of dwarven players but more of the current army book. Most people have 3 units of infantry, 2 or 3 units of shooters (thunderers/x-bow) and 4 warmachines (at least one organ gun and one STR 7 bolt thrower). This works good. And there is nothing wrong with it. In my mind the most important phase of warhammer is movement and that's where dwarves lose out. It's not because they are slow. But with their (normally) dominating shooting and the inability to out manuevre most armies they tend not even to use their movement phase until the end of the game if the opponent managed to make it across the field and survive the barage of shooting.
I'm probably pissing off some dwarf players but this is just my opinion. I like to outplay my opponents and with dwarves that is not how it works. A dwarven list usually wins the game at the time of compesition and deployment, not during the game (unless your opponent makes big mistakes).
