Welcome to Librarium Online!
Im thinking of making a new list to represent the Wild Hunt, which would mean a very cavalry based force led by Orion, around 2000 points.
I just want to know has anyone else gone this track and what do you think the pros and cons would be and tactics you would use. At the mo my force is balanced to the point of boring just becuase I wanted to get all the models. i really want to create a themed list now but one that is still battle effective.
lets say I had orion, two units of wild riders and two of glade riders, plus say a wildrider lord on a great stag for a pretty nice looking cavalry centre, what kind of support would be best, magic items as well, keeping with the wild hunt idea and what would the main weaknesses and strengths be do you think?
Im curious what you all think.
Well you are looing at 3000 points right there. At the point, it's hard to say what is right or wrong.
I am going down your path with my centaur army, all cavalry will surely get me killed a few times over.
Warhawk riders are a nice addition to the speed theme, and will give you some bows to hunt mages with, or simply hit and run on mages in units.
Some spellsingers will be mandatory, your cavalry is very expensive, and fragile to boot, so keeping them for magic missile harm at at cost. Then again, shooting will still take it's toll on you, unless you incorporate some dryads to screen for you. They aren't exactly expandable, but they are though and also harder to hit.
Now that your weakness as been pointed out, here are the goodies ^_^
Speed. With an average of 9 mouvement, and fast cavalry or skirmish status, you will choose when and were you will fight. You will be able to circle around flank and reachs rears, so setup your combined charges carefully, you will have no second chance.
You first objective will be to eliminate and missile troops and casters you perceive as a treat. Beyond that, you will have to focus on catching weak units and total on thier victory points.
Only engage elite units if you are very confident in your succes rate. if you fail, you are doomed. Without much Static CR, you will have a hard time to keep a winning tide.
I think the secret to your army would be glade riders.
They can help with the afformentioned warmachines and such.
As for support a glamourweave spellsinger with dispell scrolls would go well.
With 3 glade rider units (as your core) 2 box sets will net you 2 units of 5 and 1 of 6. This is pretty good for diverting charges and with musicians they come to about 130pts ish.
I'd go all the way on the cav theme and have as many glade riders and wildriders as possible.
An alter noble with helm of the hunt and great weapon and hail of doom arrows would also go well.
With Orion though you wont have many points left over, so it will be a small cav army.

The "A Smart Player Will..." theory is a complete paradox. If we make an assumption that everything we do is outsmarted, then theoretically we can never win.
I tried it at 2000 pts and Orion takes up too many points IMO. I had a terrible, terrible game, though I could only field two units of WRs at that point.
I'd try it again but was discouraged enough to put away my orion model and never finish painting him.
since Orion himself takes up to many points why not make it a wild hunt army but with a greatstag mounted wild-Rider Highborn?
Representing one of Orion's most trusted lieutenants?
okay, wildriders will be speacial but even then, two units should be able to hit the table?
it would still be fluffy but gives you more points to play around and will let you personalise you're armie a bit more.
hope it helps
