Playing my friend the other night, and his almighty dwarf army. usually when we play, we play 1500 pt armies, because we're preparing for the tournament "Conflict" in Vancouver next year. However... he desicrated me. And i'm not just talking about a small victory; his war machines annihalated me in a few turns. 2 of his 3 special units are (2) bolt throwers, 4 in total. he has 2 master engineers, giving his bolt throwers entrenchments (heavy cover from misiles, defended obstacle in melee). However i attack them, i need 6s to his and 4s to wound. Keeping in mind he's 36" away from me and he has a range of 48"
Also, apparently his organ gun doesn't need to roll to hit, it's an automatic hit, and he rolled a 10, so 10 strength 6 hits destroyed my dryad unit.
Is there A-N-Y way to counter this in a 1500 pt battle? It seems impossible!

Well, I'm not sure how you win, but you can force a draw by hiding in your
trees and not exposing yourself to fire. If he wants to win he'll have
to come to you, and once you're in CC he can't use his bolt throwers
Alternatively, flyers might be able to take out his war machines, but
4 bolt throwers are likely to kill any eagles they see ...
Also, you won't have much fun shooting his infantry. T4 with a 3/4+
save are a nightmare to kill with bows, even WE ones.
Have you posted your list anywhere? Might have a few more ideas if I know
what you're running
Either waywathers or warhwak riders whill take care of the war machines(glade riders also migth work), and until you do that just hid in the trees and take pot shots at him occasionaly the come out once the warmachines are gone.
Heh, if only it were as simple as that^_^ With rune of valiant plus engineer that's one pretty tough war machine to destroy. As long as they last for a turn he can move in some backup to help out.Originally Posted by hero
Four bolt throwers is pretty filthy to be honest, one upside is that he can only kill one skirmishing model a turn. And he is also -1 to hit.
Organ gun, on the other hand, will mash anything that goes near it
one last option is to use dryacha and summon units directly behind the bolthrowers.

however, my new list is:
10 Glade Guard
10 Glade Guard
8 Glade Riders
5 Warhawk Riders
1 Treeman or 10 Waywatchers
2 Spellsingers (level 2)
okay i would definitly drop the treeman as the artlery will eat it for lunch but the waywatchers should be able to take out som astillery
ANother optino is to take a noble with arcane bodkins and make him a waywatcher noble and he will easily be able to bring down that dwarf artillery
