    Eagle Mounts

So I've ordered the "direct only" great eagle and am wondering whether or not to equip it with a rider. Likely, I'll just drill a hole in it for when I do want a character.

Now that alters are such easy prey to shooting and magic, I'm thinking a character on a great eagle may be the right kind of replacement. It's the most mobile thing in the list. It adds longevity to the character.

And with the same sort of equipment as an alter, I think it'd be really strong.

What I like is this: bow of loren, arcane bodkins, great weapon, shld, lt armor, amber pendant

Or on a noble, helm of the hunt, hail of doom, lt armr, shld, great weapon

What do y'all think? Any detracting factors? (And yes, I'm from Tennessee, so I can use y'all  )

I think it would work quite well.

The extra speed and wounds from the eagle would make it more survivable than the alter.

The extra attacks certainly wouldn't hurt.

I personally don't like to sink that many points into a character, but it should be great at doing most things.

The "A Smart Player Will..." theory is a complete paradox. If we make an assumption that everything we do is outsmarted, then theoretically we can never win.

What I like is that the mount is so cheap. I really don't see it as sinking points into a character. It's 1/6 the cost of a dragon.

A character on a eagle doesn't sound as a bad solution indeed.
    About the combo's:

    -The lord:
The Amber pendant is "on foot only"...So do you plan to have the lord dismount before combat? Since otherwise he is illigal..
I would spend the points of the pendant for the Hail of Doom, it will always be handy.

    -The Noble:
He looks great, i have no comment on him. I might even burrow that combo.

    Hope it helps

keep in mind that great weapons only confer +2 strength if on foot, so hell get only +1 strength to strike last. maybe a spear would be better, and its one handed, so you csn give him a shield, or enchanted shield too.

Good points, drop the GW and the pendant. Add shields.

    EDIT:

    So how about this:
Highborn, eagle, lt armor, spear, enchanted shield, bow of loren, arcane bodkins, fimbulwinter shard

Against foes with WS 3 or below, he'd be hit on 6's. Foes with WS 4 to 7 would hit him on 5s. And the eagle would be hit on 5s most of the time.

    Then with him...
noble, lt armor, spear, shield, helm of the hunt, hail of doom arrow

Charging together, the two would have 8 str 5 attacks, along with 4 str 4 attacks from the eagles, all at a high weapon skill.

    That ought to kill something.

Yes indeed that ought to kill someting.

The new combo's seem very good in my eyes. They will be one real pain in the b*t for you're opponent.
If you us ethem let us know how they fare. I am really curious how they will behave on the field

    Hope it helps
