I'm using Army Builder to setup a 2250 point army lead by Orion.
When I add my other Heroes and start to add magic items, it says they have 75 points for magic instead of the usual 50 points.
Is this a special rule for an Orion led army, or just a mistake in Army Builder?
I'm going to be trying him for the first time on Monday. 2250 points against Dark Elves:
Orion w/ 2 sheep
Skaw the Falconeer
Glade Guard x18
Wild Riders x5
Warkhawk Riders x3
- Moonstone of Hidden Ways
Great Eagle x1
So, This is my first time using Orion, Skaw, Wild Riders and a Great Eagle.
I'm hoping to get my wardancers behind their lines early with the moonstone and have the eagle focus on the war machines.
The tactic of having my glade guard move up the middle to shield my other units worked awesome when I tried it last battle, so i'm using a large unit of those and flanking with dryads.
I'll report back on how it goes with Orion.
So the battle went well last night, it was a masacre in my favor against the Dark Elves.
Orion was pretty successful in the fight. In the first round, he was able to use his str 6 bow shot in the flank of a unit and kill 3 models by going through the ranks. He also successfully wounded a Black Dragon with it.
Unfortunately, the +2 dispel dice weren't useful since the Dark Elves used ZERO magic, and the units were mainly immune to psychology so the panic test on his first charge wasn't a big deal. Although, these would both be VERY useful in a lot of other battles.
In hand to hand...he rocked. He single handedly killed the rider of the Black Dragon in one round. The dragon returned 2 wounds which I allocated to the Hounds. Due to my his high initiative, i was able to take the dragon down to 1 wound in the next round, and killed it the following round only taking one wound to Orion.
I'm very pleased with him actually, but since two of his best abilities were not useful in this battle...I wasn't happy with the high cost.
btw...the moonstone of hidden ways ROCKS on a wardancer character in a unit of 8.
Awesome! That makes me more anxious to try the Big O again. And yeah, that moonstone can really throw a kink in your opponent's plan. I think that if I use a WD highborn, it'll be a regular on him, along with the blades of loec and amber pendant.
