    Wood elf beginner, need help!

I'm starting wood elves and I've just bought the battleforce and army book. What do you think I should get next and does anyone have any general advice they could give me? I've heard that they are quite weak in CC and I'm not sure whether I should be wizard or noble heavy.

    Thanks

Buy yourself 1 hero and 1 spellsinger and play around with the army in a few configurations until you figure out how you like to play them. What you buy next should be determined on how you like to play, not what we think is good. I know for a fact you will get about 10 different answers from 15 different people.

Geronimo, look out below. Here comes the brother with the offbeat flow. I just fell from the mother ship.

Proxy the models you have. Use your glade riders as wild riders for a few games and see what you think. Use some glade guard as way waywatchers, and try out something as wardancers. That'll give you a good idea about what you want next.

Me, I always use wardancers. They're my favorite combat unit. I'd recommend those in a heartbeat, but proxying them is a good idea.

Like IamJasonK says, get a singer and a noble and play around with both. You can't go wrong with one of each.

I really like a branchwraith, but you can convert one of those from dryad sprues.

in terms of army building from the not just playing angle i say build up a kicking unit of wild riders. I finally finished painting my unit which grew finally to ten (thats about enough methinks)
It looks stunning (in my mind) plus you can rank them either in two ranks of 5 or three ranks with a first rank either led by the utterly cool highborn on the great stag (like i do) or orion himself.
Its a big project but looks amazing can become your armies centrepiece!

from a playing side i think they rock too, but I dont play so often so other people could fill you in better there.

As far as what to get next it really is up to you as all WE units are fairly sound (though I would reckomend against Treekin as they arn't that useful). Who ever told you WE are weak in CC needs to realise that WE have no units that play multi-task role, each has a specialised role and they play incredibly well when used in conjnction and correctly, in CC, shooting or whatever else you can think of. This being said don't try slogging matches with Korne beacause you will never win, tatical thought is needed to utalise all WE's strenths if they're going to be effective. Keep each unit in its role and you won't go wrong.

Treekin arn't that useful? They have single handily won games for me against horde armys (O&G TK and VC) because they took out all the big units that my Glade Guard couldn't. That and they are very good CC along with a treeman and you could take out almost anything (i mean almost because they can be killed easily... I am scared of my friends new empire... so much fire)

anyway. i agree for the most part, tactics are everything with WE as well as any army. No one would try and sit back and shoot against WE just like Glade Guard wouldn't try to CC a beserker
