I know that wood elves specialise in being very fast and maneoverable on the battlefield, but do you think an army that focuses just on powerful archery backed up by a few close combat troops for support would work? The standard wood elf list would have some glade guard, riders, dryads, and war hawk riders but what if I had:
10 glade guard x5
8 wardancers x2
6 waywatchers x2
Would this rough list prove to be competitive enough?
Thanks for any replies
You could only play it at 3000 pts since you have three rare slots.
You could exchange one unit of watchers for a unit of GG scouts, though.
I think it'd be competitive mainly because I've seen someone with a similar list, and he wins all the time with it.
50+ archers, one unit of dryads, one unit of treekin, two treemen, some token heroes and, I think, eternal guard.
He just shoots the hell out of everyone.
Well either you are trying for a 3000 pt list or your army isn't legal.
As for competitiveness you could win some matchs. I used to play a archery heavy army with 40x GG and 20xWW in it. However, I found that to often it would be beaten by large targets with high T or fast armies with high cavalry counts.
I once saw this army. It beat a few opponents but again once people know what to expect they could easily tailor their armies to beat it. If I did the math right it works out to 1998 pts.
