I iwll be facing a beast of chaos army soon. The battle will be 2250pts. I have not faced this type of army. Any insight into what units to bring and what to expect would be great. Any tactics for my WE would also be apptreciated.
Ahh the ancient enemy of the WE. They are tough, let me go find my notes from playing them and find my copy of their army book and I will be back to help.
First the BoC special rules.
Ambush - the BoC have units that can start off the field and come on at a later round. I am not sure on the specific rules, but don't be surprised if at a later round chaos hounds appear behind you and charge. I know if yuo kill the general with the brayhorn they can't come onto the field. So if yuo get an easy shot on this guy take him out. Also, try to keep a unit of 8 dryads or such in back in to intercept this.
Raiders - This make a unit skirmishers with a rank bonus. Again not up on the specifics, but just because you see skirmishers don't be surprised if they get a rank bonus. They also will shift around their guys once they get into combat. Apparently the Gor push the ungors out of the way to move up.
Unruly - Every once in awhile the BoC unit will be forced to charge because of a dice roll. Nothing in their favor, just a heads up.
OK, now an overview of the BoC.
They are an army with little cavalry but decent movement with M5 and M6s. So they won't be slower then you. They also have very low armor, so take advantage. Also their special selections are characterized by "ogre" units. Meaning 3W and 3A. Lastly they are average to slightly below average in ld, with many 6s, 7s, and 8s. There best lord doesn't even have a LD of 10.
I am not going to get into every unit that they have unless you can give me an idea of what you are fighting.
Overall some suggestions.
If you use Arcane Bodkins with Bow of Loren I would suggest you take the Starfire arrows instead of the Bodkins. There aren't many armored opponents to deal with in the army and it would be a waste. However, if he brings many Bestigors you might want to reconsider this advice.
Always take the Hail of Doom Arrow.
Stay away from a DoomBull lord. I have that underlined twice in my notes for each battle. It probably is something you should listen to.
Overall I suggest you break and route his Core units quickly that will give you time and maneuver room to take on his big/"ogre" units.
Sounds good. I appreciate it:yes:
