Welcome to Librarium Online!
Well, i like skaw. I think he could well be an asset in friendly games. But before i try him out in a proper game i want to clear up a rule with him
here is his stats
anyway, under hawks
Hawks. Skaw has three birds of prey that he uses as missile weapons and as weapons in hand-to-hand combat. The range of each bird is 24", and they will always hit on a 2+ at a Strength of 4. In hand-to-hand combat, the birds give Skaw an additional 3 Attacks at a Strength and Weapon Skill of 4.
does this means Skaw has an overall 7 attacks in hand to hand combat? I wouldn't be confused except this line.
"In hand-to-hand combat, the birds give Skaw an additional 3 Attacks at a Strength and Weapon Skill of 4."
the WS is different to Skaws weapon score. But the rest of the stats such as the alter stat is already incorporated.
I believe he has 7 attacks in hand to hand. what's you opinion?
Wash: This landing is gonna get pretty interesting.
Mal: Define "interesting".
Wash: [deadpan] Oh God, oh God, we're all going to die?
I just looked over the rules online and it seems to mean a total of 7 attacks in close combat. of course they are resolved at different weapons skills and what not but i believe that those are additional attacks.
Armies: Wood Elves, High Elves
Warbands Campaign 07: 1st
San Antonio Alamo GT
I've played Skaw and loved him. He does great in shooting and in combat.
What that line means is that the hand-to-hand attacks provided by the hawks don't hit on a 2+ as the shooting attacks do; instead, they resolve their to-hit rolls at a WS of 4, compared to the opponent's weapon skill.
You'll also notice that the hawks have their own intiative value, which they'll use with their hth attacks.
Here's a question: If they're hawks, why is he called the Falconer? Falcons are different birds altogether.
As for the alter's attacks being included in his profile, Skaw's are not because the hawks actually attack with a different profile than the character himself.
I do the lash attacks with the same logic. Only Skaw's actually reduce the opponent's stats, not the birds.
