    Spellweaver setups?

I'm working on a 2250pt list that is lead by my lvl 4 Glamourweave Spellweaver. She's using Lore of Beasts (i can't wait to see Bear's Anger on my BSB and Branchwraith.

My big question is on how to equip her since I'm facing Dark Elves tomorrow night.

I currently have a Power Stone and the Wand of Wych Elm

This seems a bit unsexy to me though...

    any suggestions?

I don't know if there is a sexy weaver setup. If you want to try something different and cool, take the lamentation of despairs if you have plenty of other magic. Wait until turn 3 or 4 when you know your opponent's exhausted his dispel dice and any scrolls he has, then spring the lamentation. Granted, getting past DE leadership is tough, but if you really wanted to challenge yourself, try and get another character with the wraithstone to be near the character you want to target.

I usually just take the wand of wych elm and maybe a dispel scroll or maybe a power stone. I don't know that there's any killer knockout for a weaver to have.

You could always put him on an eagle just to annoy the crap out of your enemy and to keep him safe, well, mostly safe.

hmm...i may put her on an eagle and switch out the power stone for the Stone of the Crystal Mere.

If she's on an eagle...can she still cast Bear's Eagle on herself?

also... what ways, aside from march blocking, would you suggest the eagle be used as an annoyance?

Hmm, good question. Taking out very light war machines? Like goblin crews? I mean, a weaver can take the Hail of Doom Arrow, you know. At short range, he'll still hit on 3's, which isn't bad.

I guess I never expect my spellweavers to be horribly sexy. I look at them more as in a support role - stand back, move trees, try to hurt dumb troops that wander into the woods, try to shut down enemy magic when possible, cook a good meal every once in a while... I leave the sexiness to my alters and wardancers. They're the supermodels of the WE.

If she's on an eagle...can she still cast Bear's Eagle on herself?
The answer is no, since the eagle is a monstrous mount, the character and eagle become a single unit with a unit strength of 4. Bear's Anger only works on unit strength 1 characters.

powerstone and wand of wych elm are good items for the weaver.

For the other 20pts I really don't think there is anything worthwhile that you can get.

Have you thought about Lore of Life? Some of those spells are just nasty. I played against a forest spirit army with a glamorweave Spellweaver that was healing treemen and casting master of stone/woods left right and centre. It was bloody annoying.

The "A Smart Player Will..." theory is a complete paradox. If we make an assumption that everything we do is outsmarted, then theoretically we can never win.

i have a really crazy setup for my spellweaver. i put her on a unicorn, and then have her ride with some wild riders. she is safe from a bunch of things, she can cast spells on the wild riders like a mo fo, and she is no slouch in combat, and she has the wild riders to clean up for her.

What model do you use to represent her? I've always wanted to try that setup.

Well, I won the battle vs Dark Elves with a Massacre...but I learned some valuable lessons.
    1. Never again will I enter a battle without a Dispel Scroll
    2. Alter noble with Helm of the Hunt, Great Weapon and Hail of Doom Arrow is by far my favorite noble setup.
    3. Spellweaver on the Eagle with Stone of the Crystal Mere is a SICK defense.
    4. Bear's Anger on a Branchwraith or BSB kills Hydras
    5. But...this said, I will probably never use the Spellweaver with Lore of Beast again. I found that she was unable to cast for 2 rounds becuase i needed the Bear's Anger to stay on a character.

well, to be honest, you should ALWAYS have at least 2 dispel scrolls in any army. It doesnt matter which one. I have found that just a regular old Spellweaver, and that tree singing staff with 3 dispel scrolls is good enough for me. I like to move trees, and when you can move a massive block of trees over a gun line, you will have one unhappy camper playing across from you.
