hi guys ive come up with a theme for wood elves that i think is quite different
Desert elves ok so a small force has been ambushed and had to flee to the desert and has adapted to its style of fighting
so far ive got a few ideas on how to model this such as
sandmen or cactus for treekin
glade guard with cloaks textured like sand to blend in with bases
and the scheme will be all deserty of course
maybe a big cactus for a treeman
and later on maybe wild riders with camels as mounts
any one got some comments or ideas?
This sounds like a great idea but the cactus idea doesnt realy float my boat, the giant sand man idea sounds cool. But how are you going to model the camels ? and what colours where you thinking?I will keep my eye out for any classic miniatures.
"I'm the man with no name... Zapp Brannigan at your service."
As for the treeman, do wood thats like drift wood, bleached and have sand all over it. Cactus is a bit silly for a treeman, its not even a tree I believe (not a traditional in the same sense).
Well, I like the cactus idea. Definitely original, slightly humourous. And you could have Vulture Riders!
you don't really need to go for the camels as the Arabians had great horses.
your free wood could be an oasis with palms etc.
For modelling purposes I would use the hooded gladeguard heads with the face wraps, makes it look like they are protecting themsleves from sandstorms.
This would be a good choice of theme for an Asrai army, then you don't have to do the comical cactus thing. If you want dryads and the such, get youself a couple of the jungle sprues and use them as palm fronds etc. That way your dryads are the forest spirits of the palm trees inhabiting the oasis.
There is no reason you can't do warhawk riders as is. There are mountains everywhere.
Fluff wise the WE's could become guardians of the oasis. A noble with the moonstone of hidden ways would exemplify this fluff wise as it indicates how the WE's would be able to travel great distances around the desert quickly. They can spread out amongst the oasis and them use moonstones to appear in numbers where required.
Just a couple ideas.

The "A Smart Player Will..." theory is a complete paradox. If we make an assumption that everything we do is outsmarted, then theoretically we can never win.
