I have a 1500 pt tourney coming up in a couple of weeks and I was considering fielding the following army:
Farsser w/doom, spear
Dire Avengers X10
exarch w/twin shuricat
Dire Avengers X10
exarch w/diresword+shuri pistol
w/spirit stone, scatter laser, holofields, shuri cannon
Fire Dragons X5
(in the falcon, sorry chere)
Dark Reapers X5
exarch w/tempest launcher
Shining Spears X5
exarch w/star lance
withdraw, skiller riders
w/laser lance, jetbike, mandiblasters, fusion gun
The seer will run with the avengers dooming the bladestorm targets. The units will be backed up by the wraithlord, providing anit-tank support and limited close combat assitance.
Reapers will be on their own, providing long range support for the advancing units.
Vypers, spears and falcon will form a mobile response force being able to handle tanks, light skimmers as well as intercept fast-moving combat units thretening the avengers and reapers.
I have access to almost every unit in the army list except for guardian jetbikes for those who are suggesting substitutes.
Any advice/feedback is greatly appreciated.
Diresword is the worst choice for DA, get the shimmershield if your going for a tarpit (usually with defend) or dual cats. Wraithsword is just about worthless, save the points if your not going to have em use 2 heavy weapons (which looking at your AT options i would).
thank you for the feedback so far
is there any more?
As stated, the wraithsword is sort of a point hog, getting more heavy weapons souped up on your Wraithlord would be an apporpriate choice for making mince-meat marines or punching armour.
For a charging army, Spears put aside, there is some lack of melee units, such as banshees, harlys and scorpions, although I guess you may know what you're going against in the tournament, so I'll rest my case there.
I've also noted you have a lot of shuriken firepower, excellent against poorly armoured opponents (especially your abundance of shuriken cannons, ), but you'd get into quite a pickle going up against souped-up armour saves and heavy vehicles. Your Dark Reapers, Fire Dragons and Autarch are the only real threats in your army for countering those types of assaillants, so you may want to add a starcannon or bright lance somewhere to back you up, just in case. Once again, it all depends on what you're facing, and if you know no Chaos or Space Marines or w/e are heading your way, you're in the green.
Now this is just me, but I've always had a certain disdain for Fire Dragons with no exarchs, their melta capability is short-ranged and they can get picked off before they can get into effective range, hurting your perfomance/cost ratio. I've always preferred opting for an extra bright lance to cope with my armour piercing capabilities when playing with my friend's Eldar force, and the lance rule never hurts. But hey, that's just my preference, if you feel confident in using your Dragons, go ahead 100%, I've seen them being used very well to give interesting results!
Besides that, you have a good balanced force, with a lot of bikes/skimmers to harrass positions and swoop into a charge while getting backed up by hails of shurikens and reaper shots, so you're fielding a pretty solid unit. Good luck!
What do Khorne Berzerkers say to Necrons after chopping some of their bits off? "BLOOD FOR... Eh? Come on! You just take the fun out of it... Scream! Yell! Awww... not even a trace of guts..." *sniffles and kicks dirt*
"You can go far with a smile. You can go even further with a smile and a gun"
