    Iyanden Army

In response to my nids army, im also doing an Iyanded army, and making a diorama from it. As such i want my Iyanden army to be fairly fluffy. I KNOW im getting two spirit host boxes, so thats what im gonna use as the basis.

So, can you help me make a list from this>? Its going to be 1500 points, and fairly competative =)

    HQ
    Yriel

    Farseer
    Guide
    Doom
    Fortune
    Spirit Stones
    150

    Heavy Support
    Wraithlord
    Bright Lance
    Eldar Missile Launcher
    155

    Wraithlord
    Bright Lance
    Eldar Missile Launcher
    155

    Wraithlord
    Scatter Laser
    Shuriken Cannon
    120

These are the must haves, i would also like to include at least 2 wraithguard squads.

    Thanks in advance

I think Iyanden would be pretty typical if you were recreating the whole Iyanden vs hive fleet thing. The reason that Iyanden needs to use a ghost army is because of the hive fleet.

Well, thats why i chose Iyanden =)

I love the idea of a last stand, but if i take say 2x5 wraithguard in serpents, then 3 wraithlords, and say a unit of guardians, and a unit of avengers, would that work?

P.S. im considering Lances on the serpents and Starcannons on the wraithlord (starcannon and scatter laser)

well, fluff wise, remember that iyanden didn't have a huge wraithlord/guard population during the hive fleet attack, but it does no because of it. Iyanden suffered HUGE attrition in the defense and was forced to enlist the souls of the fallen so that they may continue on today.

That said, Wguard vs warriors, WL vs carnies, and some guardians vs gaunts would make for a great diarama.

Oh, and a chewboca action figure. "ouch, I bent my wookie"

    As for a 1,500pt list....

yriel, your 2 squads of 5WG with spirit seers with SS's, 2 WLs, a vibro cannon, and some stormies and maybe some rangers (since they saved iyanden (yriel and his pirates)).

Reasonable model count, great figures for posing, and fun lists to play.
    My armies:
16,000+ of Eldar (only need flyers)
    7,000+ of Nids (want heirophant)
6,000+ of Space Marines (need rever titan)
4,400+ of Cygnar (all models for the faction)
    1,500+ of Legion (just started)

Fluff-wise, Iyanden was famed for its Dire Avengers, so some of them would not be out of place either.

(I haven't played Eldar in a very long time, so I don't know if the Dire Avengers are still useless.)

A good list (both fluff-wise and tactically) would include:
    Yriel
Wraithguard with Spiritseers in Wave Serpents
    Wraithlords
    Rangers
    Dire Avengers

With the new codex, dire avengers became an awesome/above average unit.

Great at shooting everything to death, and a tarpit in CC with an invulnerable save.

Good range, decent stats, and relatively cheap.

Mind you, I prefer guardians, bt that's just my playstyle, as I've seen DA used to deadly effect.

    That's good to know.
I used to play Iyanden a lot. (In fact, I contributed quite a bit to the Iyanden section of the Craftworld tactica, which is now obsolete.) I always liked the look of the Dire Avengers, but I always just took minimized squads of Guardian Defenders with gun platforms.

I still have some nicely-painted Iyanden figures lying around. (They were the ones I couldn't bear to sell) Perhaps I should resurrect the army.

Hmmm, well my diorama is "last stand", so its going to be just as Yriel starts turning the tide. Hows this looking.

Out of sheer curiosity, how are 5 man wraith squads in serpents fluffy??? I always imagined squads of 10 on foot as fluffy (with seer ofc).

And were Yriels corsairs rangers? i see them as a swift combat army to be honest.

    HQ
    Yriel

    Elites
    5 Wraithguard

Since the fall of Iyanden was the slaughtering of the eldar populace, a re-inactment would have lots of guardians and Yriel coming in with rangers.
