Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hi all. Usually I play a fairly static list. I sit back and annoy my opponent, bait charges, and then countercharge forward and through into his main force. It has been working for me so far, but I feel the need for something different. I whipped this list up last night and I'm going to give it a whirl this afternoon, but... something doesn't quite feel right with it, and I'm looking for some input. I mostly play Marines or Chaos.
Here we go:
Falcon -- Scatterlaser, Shuri-Cannon, Vectored, Holos, Stones.
2x Prism -- Holos, Shuri-Cannon, Stones.
10x Avengers -- Ex/2xShuricat, Defend. WaveSerpent -- TL Shuri-Cannon, Shuri-Cannon, Stones, Vectored.
6x Fire Dragons -- Ex/ Tank Hunter
7x Harlequins -- 6x Kisses, SSeer, TMaster/ Power Weapon
Autarch -- Bike, Mandiblasters, Fusion Gun, Laser Lance.
5x Shining Spears -- Ex/ Withdraw, Star Lance.
5x Warp Spiders -- Ex/ 2xDeathspinners, Blades, Withdraw.
The general plan is to get everything moving very fast in all sorts of different directions, present a nightmare in terms of target selection, and then pick one end of his line and squoosh it. I like the idea that it's almost exactly the opposite of the way I usually play (ie -- a strong, bristly base that the opponent's dared to attack).
The problem is that I'm not sure about a) Eldrad, b) the Fire Dragons, and c) the Pathfinders. They seem out of place, but I've no idea what to replace them with. I don't necessarily want to buy a whole whack of new models to make this list work, but...
I have a pool of potential replacements/augmentations that includes:
3 Weapons Batteries (with crew)
1 Autarch (afoot, but with Jump pack)
1 Farseer (afoot)
3 Warlocks (ditto)
16 Guardians (with starcannon or scatterlaser)
6 Hawks (hah!)
Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated. I've never played such a mobile force before (and have used my Spears precisely once) so my feelings won't be hurt if you (collectively) say that I'm doing it all wrong.
Thanks in advance.
If you will be playing against mostly marines/chaos i would suggest a starcannon on the falcon inplace of the scatter laser, itll add to the grav tanks SM melting goodness.
You may want to get bladestorm on your avengers, so you can dive out of WS and unload. Also consider starcannons on your WS as well.
I would drop the harlies down to a 6 man squad, all with kisses, and put them in your falcon so they can unload right where they need to plus itll save the points of getting another WS.
If you were intending on placing your fire dragons in the Falcon then i guess you wont want to do that, unless of course you added another falcon in place of one of your fire prisms (which im sure people will hate that advice, i just think 2 fire prism is alittle cheesy and a lot of over kill).
Is laser lance one-handed? thought it was two. at any rate your autarch with the spears will probably be nice for a turn or two until they are all destroyed, just as well with your spiders. Just be careful not to let those units go at a flank alone. I would also reccomend increasing the number of Warp Spiders, as 5 are likely not to do too much damage to a SM unit but 8-10 can pump out quite a fair amount of str 6 shots.
Also consider dropping Eldrad, hes alot of points, dropping him and your pathfinders squad would give you room for a lot of fast jetbikes with some shuriken cannon goodness. Just a thought.
Thanks for the thoughts, PH. I'm going to mull them over and see what I can come up with.
(Defend on the Dire Avengers was some sort of brain fart, by the way -- I meant Bladestorm. Durr. Thanks for pointing it out for me.)
