in about 2 weeks ill be playing a 1000 point game againist Space wolves.... so here we gooo
Farseer Arelith 120
10 dire avengers 152
10 dire avengers 152
5 Dark Reapers 227
Storm Falcon 195
Total - 1006
19 ap 3 shots or lower per turn
Should do alright in the game
NOTE dont make mention of harleys or wave surrpents with fire dragons and blah blah blah.
i hate the majority of aspect warriors. just a FYI :]
I like a cross between foot and mech.
I tend to get nervous when I see lists with no CC and some expensive static/slower units. Space wolves have solid bike options and their fancy scouts to get in too close too fast. You also don't have a good answer if they bring some AV14.
However I get the feeling that you know your buddies army. If so post it so people can give better advice. If it's focused on units like long fangs, other infantry, and maybe a venerable dred you'll do just fine with a list like that.
Regardless I don't know that I'm feeling the star+shuri vypers. Still if he's using units static enough that you can snipe around cover at 24" range they'll do fine.
3 speeders a few termies not sure if hell be using the land raider in the 1000 point game. would make it very easy to blow his troops away and just leave him with a raider after turn 2 lol....
he only has one scout squad that i know of.
a lemon russ and a pred. dev squad (long fangs?)
and a very minimal troop selection
I can't remember the exact rules for the space wolves scouts, the special ones that come in on the enemies board edge. Can they assault on the first turn? The reason being that they may be able to hit your reapers when they come in, especially if you roll a mission where you can't deploy further than 12" from an edge.
The raider is dangerous in that he would presumably have CC oriented troops+HQ inside with the intent to plop them onto reapers/avengers.
From what I'm hearing his force a decent ~1000pt army (I don't know wolvers all that well) would be
CC troops for inside raider
HQ for raider
shooty troops (since you didn't mention another transport)
show up in the rear scouts
Speeder or two if points allow
I think you're list would have a hard time with that. Mostly due to an inability to cope with the Raider and a hard time with the Rus(assuming your friend isn't stupid enough to let you get at the back armor). The only weapon you have to threaten those two from the front is the S8 pulse laser on the falcon, which has a nasty habit of getting shaken, probably every turn, by the raider assuming the guy figures out that's the only thing aside from a charge from the farseer that could down his vehicle.
Now he might chicken out and not that the raider. That would help a lot. If he ties to out shoot you with Wolves or march down the middle his list would be boned. His dev squad, the long fangs, gets no meatshield models but can target multiple units. That makes it expensive and fairly easy to take down which I'm guessing you would.
Still I don't see him taking neither the Raider or Rus. The Rus can pose a major threat to your DA and Reapers, but at least it's vulnerable to a number of your weapons on the sides.
Regardless I'd be tempted to add some kind of anti armor unit in there. Maybe a wraithlord with a bright lance instead of the vypers?
