Recently I've been shying away from grav-tanks and MC's as they are a source of frustration for other players in my play group. So, this is my first shot at a infantry only army. I think it's pretty straightforward, the DA's provide a front line, Harlies mop up, Hawks aim for vehicles primarily and offer extra fire support vs. swarms.

I primarily play against Thousand Sons and Tyranid, in which case DA's are more efficient shooting for the points than Reapers (I can post the math if you like). Even if I did play against vanilla marines I'd prefer having more mobility, models/wounds, and melee attacks for the points.

And yes, I know Eldar grav-tanks are great, that's why I own 6 of their models =) I just wanted to try something different, and give my opponents a respite from rolling Crew Shaken countless times per game.

As are our MCs. But it sounds like you outclass your local players. Nothing wrong with turning it down a notch.

I'd split up the DA so you get a full 6 units. As much as anything those guys are meatshields. Keeping harlies from taking rapid fire. That will make them able to block more coridors and such.

And I think he does need the hawks. Reapers are for taking out infantry. Not taking out a leman russ.

Vibros are nice. But work best when the enemy comes to you due to their range. And that isn't what he'll be doing.

Also with hawks you might want to put in an autarch. maybe withwings.

Great idea sunnyside, there's really no downside at all to splitting them into 6 squads. After studying the list a bit, i'm considering switching the harlie squads to banshees w/ exarch+executioner, and lose the hawk's talon+power weapons from the hawk exarchs, which would give me exactly enough points to pick up twenty more DA's. What do you guy think?

Sounds like a good idea to me. The banshees will be more useful againt Thousand Suns and still play well against Nids. Ideally, the hawks would never be in CC anyway, so the power weapon isn't much of a loss.

Looks like a win/win situation to me.
