Welcome to Librarium Online!
I'm thinking of taking this list to cancon.

2 Broadsides - ASS, team leader, 2 shield drones, bonding 200
Hammerhead - railgun, burst cannons, decoys, multi 165
>>> Reply: It looks like a pretty standard Hybrid list on the surface. I'll assume the single choice of hammerhead is an attempt to better your comp score?
The only thing that strikes me as odd is your 6 man firewarrior team with markerlight. Did you just have excess points that you wanted to use or do you think the unit is one actually worth fielding? Or are you just trying to get closer to the 40% troops? If its extra points I'd be choosing something else, maybe a pirahna to mix it up just a little. If you're trying to meet 40% minimums (which is pretty tough on tau imo) I'd drop the second HQ and go for a 3rd mounted firewarrior squad. With the points you are already at 9 man mounted in a fish with decoys. If you can find 5 points (ASS Team bonding knife?) you can make it 10 man. This would leave you at just under 41% troops.
Otherwise the list looks pretty average and fairly soft. It looks like a list designed to meet comp rather than one that contains a clear theme. The only strength I can see is in the crisis suits as well as the number of infiltrating units you are fielding. It just looks like you're really limited yourself. Maybe thats what you want?<<<
>>>it still packs alot of punch for a list that is agreeably soft. so still not to be underestimated. youve covered your 40% troops, filled all 6 troop slots, its easy to think this is an automatic good comp score. for me, atlest a 3/5, easily persuaded to give a 4 with interesting fluff. it would still own my marines though!<<<
>>>I was after 40% troops and considered long and hard about the third devilfish. I believe the squad as it is is horrendously useless. However the third devilfish will not improve my comp score, people don't like skimmers.
The only other option is kroot hounds. These guys are extremely useful. The reason I have not chosen them is because I felt like a squad without a devilfish might improve my comp. If people believe otherwise then kroot hounds are a no brainer.<<<
>>>Onlainari, a very solid list but that 6 man squad on foot is going to be pretty much totally useless,
My list is fairly similar also with a squad on foot, however mine is 10 men plus 2 drones.
If you are going to includ the squad on foot maybe ditch a Kroot Squad and bump them up in size, this will also help with the cookie nature of the kroot squads.
It will also leave you 10pts
I also assume the stealths have targeting arrays otherwise they would be cheaper yeah?<<<
>>>Thanks. Which are better for comp, extra kroot and hounds so they're less cookie cutter (although I don't see how cookie cutter troops are a problem without lascannons), or the squad without a skimmer tank.
Oh and yeah the stealths have arrays.
11 Kroot - 2 hounds 89
12 Kroot - 5 hounds 114
13 kroot 91<<<
>>>If you didn't have the broadsides I'd say the kroot hounds for sure, becasue it doesn't make sense to have a squad on foot when everything else is mechanised (or Jump packed).
However it doesn't really make sense to have the broadsides alone on foot, so I personnaly would probably score you higher for the fire warrior squad on foot rather then the Kroot hounds.
Of course bare in mind that that is just my opinion and how I would mark comp, unless the TO specifies I should mark differently in the Players Pack.<<<
>>>Not a bad list all up. I guess the only thing that doesn't sit comfortably with me is the high numbers of kroot. I have never liked the kroot, particularly when they make up half of the numbers in your troops.
Having said that, I would probably rather see you field the kroot than another Hammerhead.<<< End replies.
Are you asking for advice? are you trying to tell us not to bother with the replies you have already posted. Seriously this is a baffling post.
Seems to me your saying I am taking this list, I have heard all the arguments against it before, I know what you lot are going to say about the list before you say it, so basically what are you wanting from this post?
I'm also wondering if the "Reply" section is about replies which have already been suggested from other online forum sources where Onlainari is a member. It may be that he is trying to help prevent having people of LO suggest the same things?
I must admit I've never seen this type of post style before myself! "Novel" comes to mind (not getting at you, onlainari ).
"Tau Commandment #226: Participants who use Velocity Trackers in the Tau Clay Pigeon Tournament will be disqualified"
I noticed your post on ATT about this list. I notice you lost to Chaos (badly).
How has this influenced your choices?
I was also interested in your opinion that Crisis win games, well to be blunt they don't, nothing wins games in isolation. In fact i would go so far as to say that taking as many suits as you have can be detrimental. You have to lose something and in this case its a heavy slot.
I am not saying that crisis are not deadly and vastly important, but the simple fact is that the XV8 does not win games, anymore than a Hammerhead does. You state Fire Warriors do not win games, well obviously this is true (but not how you meant it) but they have a place and can really help to win games. A list will only work if there is a balance, placing to much empahsis on one unit type is counter productive.
Oh and I had to giggle at this quote on the ATT post:C,mon dude show some humility. you are a sound Tau player and provide good advice but do let it go to your head.Originally Posted by Onlainari

I am a bit puzzled as to why you posted the list, it is obvious you think you are capable of producing a list without our (or ATT's) help, you have apparantley pre-empted or attempted to pre-empt any replies (which sort of implies that you are not willing to change or accept anyone elses advice or viewpoints on the list). So my question is why the post? What are you expecting?
