Welcome to Librarium Online!
I am not that new to tyranids, but still lacking a lot of experience, so decided to seek some advice on the forum.
I am playing a CC only tyranid army. The only shooting I accept is warp blast and from raveners (concept of shooting tyranids just doesn't get to me). I've got quite an army, but playing small battles...for now. I'll post my army list for 750 and I'd be grateful for any tips and opinions.
Winged, Scything Talons, LAsh Whip & Bonesword, adrenal glands(both), toxin sacs, toxic miasma, implant attack. This is actually the only unit I would never give up. It ate soooo many that I can't even remember
No biomorphs, they just tie up the enemy
Rending Claws, Scything Talons, Adrenal Glands (+1 I), Leaping, Ex. Carapace
Mostly for synapsing, but can do some damage
Warp Blast, Psychic Scream
So what do you think. With this one I only played against Grey Knights and Chaos. I won 50% games with both.
I think that this belongs in the Army section but I'll comment any how.
CC only armys are hard to do. I run a lot of CC my self usually so i hope i can help.
The Flyrant is good pretty standard, I'd be careful about the adrenalin glands as some may clame you can't have both. Also it may need Warp Field to help survivability in larger games.
The Warriors and Hormoguants are also good. I started giving my Hromoguants some Biomorphs to make them effective at killing too, but you may want to save the points.
and at 750pts I don't know what would be more useful the lictor or the Zonathropes.
Army's used: Space Wolves, Tomb Kings, High Elves, Tyranids, Tau and Eldar.
In a 750 point game, i doubt you'd see any tanks with more than 12 armor, but you'd still have trouble with tanks with 10 armor! The Tyrant can do it easy, but i dont like relying on rending to blow up tanks. So I'd run the thropes for some support.

To be honest, I like it Aggressive for such a small size, I'd maybe go for only one lictor if any though. :rofl

Flyrant - no change, still Lash whip with bonesword and scything talons. Obviously all the possible biomorphs that work for combat
12X Hormagaunts - no biomorphs, but did pretty well
12x Hormagaunts - same
12x hormagaunts - same
6x Genestealers - ...I never used, but those guys just kick ass!!! (ex. Carapace)
6x Genestealers - same
3X Warriors (Leaping, ex. carapace, ad. glands (+1I), enhanced senses, rending claws, barbed strangler and 2x deathspitter) - mostly for supporting gaunts and raveners against Instant Kill, but mostly for gaunts
3x Warriors - same
3 Warriors - same
2x Zoanthrope (warp blast, psychic scream)
So what do you think?
I'd throw in some shooty fexes.
The warriors have a mixed cause. That is not a good thing to do with tyranids. You should either focus on CC (which i wouldnt recomend doing) or make them shooty. Both just usually doesn't work. With the guns they have, they'd do a
lot better shooting. The CC ups are just a waste of like 100 points.
The raveners should have RC (you didnt specify what they had)
A nice troop selection, but you should subtract from your hormy squads to fill another troop choice.
I dont like the tyrant, but if he did good the last game, go ahead. I do recomend warp field though. In a 1500 pt game, expect to see alot of lascannons or lances/disentegrators. He'll get shot down definetly by turn 2. If you went first, hopefully he's in CC by then.
Your Heavy Support is not very strong. In 1000 or above, i think you need at least one sniper fex. They can do really well. But sometimes, they dont do anything...(I used one in a game, every shot he fired missed. But finaly on my first hit on a landraider, i glanced and blew it up!!!:rofl It was awesome:party2
