I've just started eldar and have decided to go with Alaitoc because of its great color scheme, and it's hit and run tactics. For all you vets out there, i want to see if you guys can see any flaws in the list. I don't have the codex yet but my friend helped me figure out the total so i don't have any squad pts listed.
Farseer- spirit stones, fortune, doom
Seer Council- 4 warlocks, 4 destructors
Wave Serpent- star engines, EML
6 Scorpions- exarch w/ scorpion claw, stalker
8 harlequins- shadowseer, death jester, troupe master, 2 kisses
6 fire dragons- exarch w/ fire pike, tank hunters
Wave Serpent- bright lances, star engines (holds harlequins)
Wave Serpent- scatter lasers, star engines (holds fire dragons)
10 Dire Avengers- exarch w/ extra catapult, bladestorm
5 Warp Spiders- exarch w/ powerblades, extra spinner, withdraw
3 Vypers- 2 scatter lasers, 1 missile launcher
5 Dark Reapers- exarch w/ tempest launcher, fast shot
3 War Walkers- 3 scatter lasers, 2 cannons, 1 EML
The wave serpents move with the Vypers and Warp Spiders up the flank while the reapers, rangers, and war walkers pin and destroy enemy counter assault units and keep the serpents alive. Seer council dooms a squad and warlocks unleash 4 heavy flamer templates. The Scorpions mean while move along to the back of the army to take apart heavy weapon squads. Then the serpents, along with the rest of the army, fire into the flank and bring it down. From there, i swoop around to clean up the rest.
HQ: hmmmm. 4 heavy flamers would be nice but I don't think you can cast doom or fortune while in a vehicle as some spi powers need to be used at the begining of the turn. You could get a simmilar effect from a bike mounted unit with rerollable invulnerable saves using fortune they should prouve devastating. Also give each man a singing spear if you can as they are cheap and mean you can go tank hunting instead of flamer mongering.
Scorpions: Should be 8-10 strong.
Fire dragons: 5-6 vanilla chaps should be enough. with such a small unit considder swapping their wave serpent for a cheapish falcon.
Harlequins: Death Jester sucks if you spend 33% of your time in a taxi, and 33% in combat. Also drop the troup master in favour of lots of kisses. Again and extra body or two would help.
Transports. Drop star engines. Vectored engines deffinatly for the Harlequin transport but not for the other. Spirit stones are a must. I would go for bright lances on both tanks.
Rangers: Either upgrade them to pathfinders or drop 'em.
Spiders: OK but need more bodies in the unit for suvivability.
Vipers: 2 shuriken cannon each and no other upgrades. Single shot AT weapons are no good on BS3 units. 6xSt6 shots can still shred tanks on flank or rear armour. Split them into 2 units.
Walkers: I like 3 walkers with 6 satter lasers for 180 points. Cast guide on them and watch the firepower flow.
To free up points for the upgrades above drop a viper or swap 10 rangers for 5 pathfinders.
Quorn! - Protein for the Protein God.
What the above said, minus all mention of vectored engines and the Falcon with the fire dragons. And harlequins cannot ride in wave serpents.
really? i thought the harlequins could have a serpent... oh well, the only reason i gave them one was to keep up with the other serpents. Also, are you sure 5 pathfinders would be better than 10 rangers?
