Welcome to Librarium Online!
This is the list I've been running for a while now with mixed levels of success. I would like to improve that, but would like to avoid spending too much money, since currently, this is almost all I have.
Necron Lord with warscythe, resurrection orb, and phase shifter
Necron Lord with warscythe, resurrection orb, and destroyer body
10 Flyed Ones
12 Necron Warriors
12 Necron Warriors
12 Necron Warriors
5 Scarabs with disruption fields
3 Heavy Destroyers
That's more or less it. All criticisms welcome, cause I'd really like to improve this army's record. Although I'm almost sure that getting a second monolith would cause my friends to crucify me (although if I can find a spare $55 I'd be willing to risk it). Thanks!
Lose heavy destroyers and warscythe from the nondestroyerbody lord and add 4 regular destroyers for starters. Then remove the phase shifter and add couple more scarabs or warriors or an immortal.
Do you have anything else besides just the stuff in that list? a list of possibe improvement options we have to play with would be handy.
Split the HDes into 2 units, one of 2 and one single.
Possibly split the FO's into 2 units of 5
As you have 36 warriors, you should have atleast 9 Scarab bases, 12 if youre clever and use 3 to a base, or even 13 if you make one with one and one with 2 (for wounds) Anyway, loose one Heavy Des (so you have 2 units of singles) and add a few more Scarabs in.
Generally, a Lord is better offf keeping the Staff of Light over a Warscythe. Drop both of those, move the Phase Shifter to the DLord, and look at the VoD for the foot Lord.
Are there any specific tactics your friends use that give you trouble? What armies do you play against most often? some units are better in certain situations.
A couple things to try tactically
-Surgical FOs (putting your FOs in 5-necron squads and infiltrating them to charge in and cut up your opponents shooting squads (works well on tau, IG, Eldar) note that when used this way your Flayed ones WILL die. They're purpose it to wipe out those really nasty shooting squads (snipers, reapers, devastators/heavy weapons)
-Flying circus (VoD on the foot-lord (remove warscythe and PS) then take the immortals and teleport them around)
Other have said this but destroyers are ALWAYS your friend, I never make a list without at least one squad.
I never thought about "surgical flayed ones". Seems like a very interesting idea, I'll have to give it a shot. I'm kind of reluctant to lose the warsythes, they've served me very well in the past, and I've long been debating giving the PS to the destroyer lord. I'm not a big fan of how vulnerable deep striking makes you, so I haven't really used VoD, but I'd be willing to give it a shot.
I mostly play against DE, nids, tzeentchian chaos, khornate chaos, demonhunters, and tau. Most of the time when I lose its because they inflict just enough casualties to cause a fadeout on the last turn, but had that not happened I would most likely have won, so that's been a long frustration. Thanks for the help guys, keep it coming!
I'd say try the flayed ones against tau, if you could take out their infiltrating stealth suits with some flayed ones it'd be well worth the points (I've seen it done with scorpions before)
Flying circus seems scary but remember, you can keep your units 20ish inches away and be pretty well guaranteed to still be in range if you scatter a bit. Try keeping your scarabs back and counter-charging their assault units at the last minute to tie them up. Since alot of your opponents are probly just itching to get into CC with you. Against Tau concentrate more on CC, everyone else concentrate on shooty, again you WANT destroyers.
I have the same problem with P/O alot of the time
