    1750 points, friendly/recreational.

Hiya, this is my first post on the Eldar section of Librarium-online.

I've always been tinkering with making lists revolving around the use of a 10 man Wraithguard squad, and this following list is my newest creation. It might be my favourite on paper too, for various reasons.

    HQ

    Farseer
    -singing spear
    -runes of warding
    -guide and fortune
    -spirit stones
    143 points.

    Farseer
    -singing spear
    -jetbike
    -doom and mind war
    133 points.
*this guy was supposed to be having spirit stones as well, but I had to drop them to meet the points requirement*

    ELITES

    6 Harlequins
    -shadowseer and death jester
    -5 kisses
    168 points.

    6 Harlequins
    -shadowseer and death jester
    -5 kisses
    168 points.
*my choice for these units were simple: I need some hard hitting close combat specialists that could foot slog with relative safety. As an added bonus, they each also dish out 3 S6 shots per turn at a decent skill!*

    TROOPS

    10+1 Wraithguard
-spiritseer with singing spear and conceal
    399 points.

    10 Guardian Defenders
    -scatter laser heavy weapon platform
    95 points.

    3 Guardian Jetbikes
    -shuriken cannon upgrade
    76 points.

    FAST ATTACK

    5 Warpspiders
-exarch with dual deathspinners and the withdraw exarch power
    142 points.

    HEAVY SUPPORT

    2 Vibro Cannon Support Platforms
    100 points.

    Wraithlord
    -2 flamers
-bright lance and eldar missile launcher
    155 points.

    Fire Prism
    -shuriken cannon upgrade
    -holo-fields and spirit stones
    170 points.

    Army points total 1749/1750.

From my own point of view, I think I have covered most necessary grounds atleast somewhat. I know that I *could* exchange the two Farseers for an Eldrad-equivalent and shave off some points that way but lately I have found my use of Eldrad to become rather stale. I'm choosing him simply because he is statistically better, but for fluff's sake I'd rather have my pair of Farseers. The one on the jetbike is really standing atop a Vyper-esque personal transport, an idea I got from the "Mounted Farseer" thread in your general section, though I have forgotten who it was exactly that mentioned it. Thank you, whoever you are!***

So there it is. I am aiming for a blend between competitivety and recreational play, with a leaning to recreational in this one. I'll leave my competitive lists with my Chaos forces with which I am much more confident in fielding in such a fashion.

    Thank you for your input.

***Edit: Sunnyside is the one that uncovered my vision of a Vyper-surfing Farseer. Thanks.;Y

To get the second set of spirit stones on your farseer drop the death jesters from the harlequins. Shooting with them stops the harleys fleeting and they should be spending most of their time in combat.

You have a free elite slot and 2 other troop choices so there is no need for the wraithguard to be 10 men strong. I would drop two or three for points or considder 5 in a transport.

Warp spiders need to be about 8 men strong and powerblades add a little insurance to the unit.

    The rest looks ok.

Mad Cat is right on with his comments…I am in 100% agreement with him.

Iterating what Mad Cat said and adding some of my other comments:

-Farseers both look good but I would shift points to give the jetbike one a spirit stone.

-Harlies benefit far more from fleet then the shooting of the death jester.

-For your troops I would do one of two things either:
--A) Drop the Guardian Defender squad, this may just be a unit you love to use or has worked well for you in the past but in all of my experiences a lonely defender squad doesn’t add much value. But that is just my experience with them, I do know people that swear by them and say that their Guardians are the best unit in their army too.
-- Drop a few models from the Wraith Guard unit and move them to elite.

-Add a warlock w/ embolden & a shining spear to your guardian jetbike unit, this will really bolster their resilience to leadership tests and give them some nice tank hunting ability.

-Warp Spiders need to be at least 8 man strong (including the exarch) and if you can find the points power blades are a really nice touch when combined with the withdraw ability. I find that my opponents become even more reluctant to charge them when they know that I can just withdraw & I have a power weapon in the squad.

-The vibrocannons & Wraithlord look good

-The Fire Prism is by far my favorite tank in the game; however, it doesn’t work too well on its own. It really needs to be fielded in groups of 2-3 or not at all. Furthermore it is your only tank on the board so all of your opponents anti-tank weaponry is going to be focused on it, and even with the holofield it won’t last that long.

All right, I thank you for your input. With your advice, I have modified my list in a way that I would be happy to use it in.

The greatest change will be going from a line of Wraithguard to five of them transported in a Wave Serpent. Ah well, they should still be able to do something.

    HQ

    Farseer
    -jetbike and singing spear
    -doom and mind war
    -spirit stones
    153 points.

    Farseer
-singing spear and runes of warding
    -guide
    93 points.

    ELITES

    5+1 Wraithguard
-warlock with singing spear and destructor
-transported in a wave serpent with twin-linked shuriken cannons, also with the shuriken cannon upgrade.
    323 points.
*destructor to aid their vastly reduced firepower, tried my best to keep the transport cheap: they do cost a hellish amount of points.*

    8 Harlequins
    -shadowseer
    -8 kisses
    206 points.

    TROOPS

    10 Dire Avengers
-exarch with power weapon and shimmershield, he also has the blade storm exarch power
    162 points.
*generalist squad, with both ranged and close combat options.*

    10 Guardian Defenders
    -scatter laser heavy weapon platform
    95 points.

    3 Guardian Jetbikes
    -shuriken cannon upgrade
    76 points.

    FAST ATTACK

    8 Warpspiders
-exarch with dual death spinners and power blades, he also has the withdraw exarch power
    218 points.

    HEAVY SUPPORT

    2 Vibro Cannon Support Platforms
    100 points.

    Wraithlord
    -2 flamers
-bright lance and eldar missile launcher
    155 points.

    Fire Prism
    -shuriken cannon upgrade
    -holo-fields and spirit stones
    170 points.

    Army points total 1751/1750 -.-

So this is the updated list. I appear to be one solitary point over the limit but I do not think that it will prove to be a problem. Although if it will, I will just remove the singing spear from the foot slogging Farseer and be done with it.

Actually throwing a spanner but whilst madcat is spot on on the Death Jester as general statement, WG foot slogging armies present perhaps the only valid use for this model, put the harleys behind the WG, troll up the field secure in the knowledge that you can not be seen because of the shadow seer and shoot to your hearts content, if anything survives the fire from the WG and manages to get into combat, charge in the harleys to dig them back out
Everything you have been told is a lie!
