    The Kabal of the Crippled Lotus 1,000pt

    Game day tomorrow. Here is how I plan to wing it at the moment without my dex in front of me,

    HQ: Archon(Combat Drugs, Shadowfield, Agoniser, Pistol, Plasma & Haywire grenades)
    129pts
    I have speced her out to do CC/tank hunting should that be necessary
    2x Incubi with the usual assault goods
    I took 4 last time and they killed everything too quickly and then get shot to bits.
    2x warriors with Splinter Cannons
    Fabric softener before the main wash, ya know.
    Raider with lance.

    Sub Total: 270
    Reasoning: They will aim straight for the largest body of troops. Minimal numbers but I have faith in my power attacks and iniative!

    HQ: Haemonculus with scissorhands, destructor and a reaver 80 points.

    Fast Attack: 3 Reavers(20 points each in Japan), one with the non-existent blaster. I am
    going to have to educate the Japanese about this gun. 70points.

    Sub Total: 150
    Reasoning: The jet-bikes probably won't be a targetting priority. Shooting them either way is a mistake. Damned if they do or don't! They will shoot at the gun line that will probably be waiting for the Archon.

    Elites: 7 wyches with wych weapons and a succubus with an agoniser and plasma grenades

    Sub total: 205
    Reasoning: The wyches will target something nasty and drag out a battle. I want them in H2H as asoon as is eldarly possible, so I am leaving the assault guns on Commoragh.

    Troops: Raider squad
    7 Warriors with splinter rifles
    1 Warrior with Splinter cannon
    1 Warrior with Blaster
    1 Sybarite with agoniser and pistol
    Raider with Disentegrator and Horrorfex

    Sub total: 187
    Reasoning: I don't want my H2H specialists getting gunned down. These guys support the wyches by getting into the waiting gun line.

    Troops: 1 Warrior squad
    11 warriors with Splinter Rifles
    2 warriors with Dark Lances
    2 warriors with Blasters
    1 Sybarite with agoniser and pistol

    Sub total: 185
    Reasoning: Last game I tried 2 foot slogging squads of 10 men rapid firing into a warboss biker and 4 nobz. The lances and rifles shot well in the first round but were utterly massacred by nobs and a warboss in hand to hand. In turn 2 I had high hopes for my Splinter Cannon squad but they sucked against toughness 5. By turn 3 they had all been destroyed save for 2 who fled. This time, should the warriors get assaulted, I want to make the opposition pay dearly for running into range. I hope with the larger squad number, the higher strength firepower and the agoniser, they will be able to absorb an incoming attack better and their initiative will still give them first hit.

    Grand total of 997 points. I might add on a gruesome talisman for my characters so that they count for extra models for outnumbering purposes.

    Minimum retinue size is 5, I'd drop the archon to a dracon in this size game, dro pt eh haywire and plasma grenades as well, waste of points. Don't take an agoniser with an incubi retinue you split your focus too much, otherwise O.K.

    Why are Reavers cheaper in Japan? Apart from that I wouldn't take a second HQ in 1000 points and your reavers in that set up are a tank hunting squad only.

    Does just the suc have a plasma grenade or the entire squad. Squad should all have nades, otherwise, thsi is fine.

    The disintegrator and horrorfex are unneccessary trappings, otherwise the squad is solid.

    Don't mix sybarites or blasters with dark lances, certainly not both. Sybarites and balsters want you to move, dark lances want you to stand still, pick one. if you want a mobile squad replace the lances with cannons.

    Apart from my obvious lack of experience with dark eldar I would have to agree with karantalsis for this deconstruction of your list DEfan. I want to point out some major tactical problems though.

    No. 1: All squads must have a particular objective and should not (unless you are extremely skilled or the opponent is a rookie), split the aim of your jetbikes, raider squads and HQ.

    No. 2: I find raiders to be disposable and do not give them upgrades as they are flying cardboard which rush at the enemy's gun line and somehow that does not seem resilient enough...

    I hope my advice helps and it is merely advice, not that you have to take it...you can ignore me if you like.

    I thought my list would never get a reply! I have played 2 games since this list was dreamt up. Strange, perhaps, but exactly what you guys said, happened. I was smashed by tyranids because I split my force in 2 and sent them down either flank without a specific goal, the upshot being that there wasn't enough force to bring to bear on either side and I got pulverised in response.
    In a tandem game I beat the same player on Tuesday for my first win ever by being more savvy about target selection and ruthlessly pounding the hell out of the synapse creatures from range whilst lawn mowing the gaunt horde with my new fandangled Talos. I could counter everything the nid player did next time round. Twas a SWEET victory!!
