So, I was playing Dawn of War the other day and saw how great the Necrons were. So I got to figuring, "I wonder what would happen if I used a Necron army on the tabletop.
Thus, here it is.
HQ-Lord, warscythe, lightning field, destroyer body
Fast Attack-4 Destroyers
So, I am a noob, but I still think the resurrection Orb is too overpowered and so I decided not to use it. Call me a loser, I think it just makes them way too powerful for just 3 points above an SM.
Asking for suggestions without knowing what you're planning on doing is like asking a blind man what color shirt matches your eyes.
With that many Warriors, AND Immortals, you want a ResOrb in there. Drop all the Lords gear as you have it though. ts a waste of points in an Infantry force.
Drop one Warrior unit, and add 2 more Destroyers (for 2 units of 3) and a couple more Immortals. Also then look into a medium sized unit of Scarab Swarms.
Run the Lord with the Immortals, and central to the army for Orb coverage.
I agree with Phoenix. Yes I can spell it write...ok that a horrible pun. I'm definitely going to hell
Anyway...The Resurrection Orb is not overpowered and don't feel guilty using it. Most people I know have come to expect the res orb and stare at me when I choose Veil of Darkness. So my advice is to get rid of the Lord's wargear and stick either Res Orb in or Veil of Darkness so you can teleport a squad of immortals around (commonly known as the flying circus). Totally your choice though. My preference is Veil of Darkness but I know Phoenix likes his orb coverage.
40 warriors is A LOT for 1500pts so cut down on a squad and get 2 more destroyers and immortals. If you want to do the Veil of Darkness, you need to cut down an immortal.
Everything else is fine. Just remember that the warscythe is normally a worse choice than the standard staff of light.
HAHAHA, ok first off I wanna make sure you aren't thinking res orb works like it does in DOW, all the Necron wargear is dramatically changed in the game from it's original function. And res orb isn't cheap, it's necessary. Necrons may seem much more powerful then SMs but honestly it depends on the situation. the Marines will be using that extra 3 points/model to buy things like Missile launchers and flamers. Also res orbs are 40 points beyond that.
Otherwise I think you have a very interesting army list. Yeah it's a bit warrior heavy, but warriors, much as we beat them down here, are pretty solid. You can go with the stereotypical "phalanx" see how it suits your style.
My advice is to change your wargear to just a res orb, and use the remaining points to buy yourself 3 scarabs.
Typically, the warscythe and the destroyer body work well with the lord, but only if there's a high speed close-combat unit to go with it, such as scarabs (at least) or wraiths (better).
If he's all alone like that, the destroyer body isn't worth it. Nothing can keep up with him. If he's on foot, conventional wisdom dictates you won't want the warscythe (of course, I'm sure there's a way to make it work, if you need it that badly). I don't know about the lightning field. Never tried it.
The other "standard" loadout for the lord, as has been said, is the VoD and the Res Orb. With that, he can babysit the immortals, warping them around the battlefield and blazing away.
If you don't want to do that, then use the lord to support your warriors, and DEFINITELY use the orb, especially if you're going to camp on an objective with a warrior squad.
With leftover points, scarabs are not a bad idea. You might even consider sacrificing some warriors for a full scarab squad. They won't kill anything, but they're great for finding an uber-powerful unit and tying it up for most of the game, so it can't shoot, move, assault, or do anything else.
