Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hi what do you guys think of this set up?
Farseer - singing spear, fortune, doom, runes of warding
Scorpionsx6 Exarch and Claw
123pts (In Falcon)
Bansheesx10 Exarch, Mirror Swords, Warshout
Wave Serpent TL Bright Lances, Vec Engines, Spirit Stones
Guardiansx10, with warlock, singing spear, conceal, scatter laser
Dire Avengersx10 exarch, bladestorm, defend, power+shimmy
Vyper - 2 Shiruken Cannons
Fire Prism- Shiruken Cannon, Spirit Stones, Holofield
Falcon- Holofields, Scatter Laser, Spirit Stones, Vectored Engines
Any suggestions, I would like the farseer on bike but can't make conversion in time =(,
I also wanted to do a squad of 5warp spiders + exarch + dual spinners, but this is at 127 pts, I would have to dump the vyper, both vectored engines, runes and then a banshee to do this... .worth it?
VS mostly shooty- Basic idea I think is to walk up avatar, fs, and troop choices (guardians in front of da's with fortune on them), while fast stuff nicks at a side, and hopefully decimates a flank with a nice assault.
VS assaulty- Try to trap them in the center with my troops (defend and shimmy+ fearlessness from avatar) and then rip in with a nasty counterattack
Is this any good?
Thank you lots for suggestions, I'll be backto join in the discussion as it progresses.
One Tactical suggestion - Aspect-based Warhost is not good counter-striking...
So: they Seer looks fine, but i would give him Runes of Witnessing.
I think Guide would be better PP for this army... then he could help Avengers outshoot toughest units (TSons, big squads in fine cover).
In addition, Doom would most likely help Banshees. Yet they would be on the other side of board.
The One and Only configuration of Viper for now is Scatter Laser. 36 range is needed for such a light skimmer.
Scorpion's are fine, but you know... There are some multi-coloured dancers without armour, who are said to be the best fighters among the eldar. And it seems to be truth.
Get this Warlock away from Guardians! They have to stick to best cover anyway and advance while firing SLaser. They don't need him. Farseer has spear.
Single fireprism is ok, but haven't you missed the fact you have NO ANTI-ARMOUR PERSONNEL in whole army? S9 blast is not enough. Maybe WWalker? Maybe shooty (Bright Lance + Missle Launcher) Wraithlord with Dual Flamers (ideal to pair up with Avathar). Maybe Vibrocannons (as they inflict instant glancing).
I count Falcon and Prisms as all anti-armour weapons.
Aaah, there is also brightlance on WSerpent. I think you can Drop it. It costs a lot of points and yuo are rarely going to use it.
The last thing - where on Eldanesh's sake are Star Engines?
I'm 110% against the use of Warp Spiders in any Eldar army list. I think that they are the most pointless unit in the entire codex. I honestly don't see why anyone would take them, they serve no good purpose on the battlefield.
There not as good in combat as your banshees or scorpions, but the range of their guns suggest that they are going to be up close and personnal with the enemy.
Some people may also claim that they are excellent at taking out light vehicles, but don't forget that a weapon with no AP cannot get a penetrating hit regardless of the rolls. Meaning that every roll on the dmage tables is going to have to be a 6 to destroy the vehicle. A wave serpent with a twin linked shuriken cannon, and shuriken cannon has about the same chance of destroying a vehicle as the squad you described, and it's slightly cheaper, faster, and better protected.
But get a bunch of other opinions, because I'm Warp Spider Hater.
I'm also skeptical on the use of the Banshees Warshout ability because any unit that's going to fail that morale role probably has crap luck, or a dodgy LD, and most things with a dodgy LD, aren't going to have a huge AS, and therefore your wasting your power weapons. Maybe the counter attack one would be helpful, so that if you do get charged, you can make sure that all of your banshees get into combat.
I know the shuriken cannon on the Prism is only cheap, but I do think it's a waste, because if your close enough to use it, then your not taking advantage of the Prisms excellent range. I'd personnally put the Shuriken Cannon on the Falcon.
Hope it was at least a little helpful.
P.S. Warp Spiders Suck
Tell me then why Warp Spiders are commonly most shredding tournament unit?
Who is going take kill Daemon Princes?Who can generate enough wounds so that Marine player simply can't pass enough of them?Who can take out light vehicles squadron in a single volley? Who can wipe out 15-ork strong mob in a single turn? Who can smash battle tank on both side and rear armour? Who is having the best infantry save in Eldar army? Who can handle tyranids fast units charge, strike beofre opponnent, resist all punishment and vanish only to kill enemy? Who can appear anywhere on battlefield and kill preffered enemy in single shooting phase only to reappear behind terrain feature? Who is striking without receive fire from opponent?
There are some such units in Eldar army, but not only they can't do the job so well. They can do only it. And Warp Spiders can do it all/have all this precious skills.
And remain at jetbike cost.
Don't tell me they are weak! I am usualy playing on 3 eights of them. My IG and Chaos neighbourhood hates them more than tanks.
Come on Dire, for every task you listed, there is a unit in the eldar who is better suited then the bloody warp spiders.
Daemon Princes aren't that scary, and I'd feel safer using guns from further than 12 inches, or the banshees power weapons, to get rid of that nasty AS.
Marine killers? Banshees, scorpions, disperesed prism cannon blast, Pathfinders, I'd prefer any one of these to your spiders.
I actually did the math today, and the wave serpent with a twin linked shuriken cannon, and shuriken cannon has an ever so slightly greater chance of taking out an armour 10 vehicle, then a unit of 4 spiders and an exarch with two death spinners. The difference was not even worth noticing, but the difference in price was that the spiders were 17 points more expensive.
Best infantry save? Scorpions (technically the spiders are jump infantry)
Who can attack without being fired at? Hawks, who can move up to 24" without the worry that they are going to kill one of their own men.
The point is, when you play Eldar, there are alot of different types of units, with their own speciality, and no other unit in the codex is quite as good at that job, as that unit. Yes banshees and scorpions are HTH units, but scorpions are best against a unit like a IG platoon, whilst banshees will eradicate a tau battlesuit unit before they can say "my greater goodness, their killing us".
But it seems that Spiders purpose is to be a well rounded generalist unit, and I've got to say, if that's really what you want in your army, then I'm pretty sure space marines are still recruiting.
At least that's what I think, Dire.
I turned the Warp spider debate into a new thread, so that we don't have to fill bbarts section up with something off topic. Hope you have more to ad, mate.
One more thing. Eldar have about best Heavy Support selections in whole wh40k. Both costing a lot, and cheap but efficient (in example Vibrocannon battery). I really thing comptetive Eldar shouldn't muster their warhost without 3 HS slots fulfilled.
Don't call me mate, you Heretic. :drinking:
