So I am in a campaign with several friends. Without going into a huge thing about the rules of the campaign, what we need to know here is...
A) I get 729pts. to spend.
I must get 1 HQ and 2 Troops (so right there that is 460 min.)
C) I don't get any Elites.
D) I get 1 FA and 3 HS choices. Again, no Elites
E) In this campaign I play against IG, Orks, Deamons, WH, VanillaMEQ, Tau and maybe some Nids.
So assuming 460 is taken with my compulsory what should I spend my 269 on?
Ideas so far...
5 Destroyers + some Lord wargear.
10 Scarabs with DFields + some Lord wargear.
Almost 15 more Warriors.
Monolith + some Lord wargear
These guys aren't power gamers persey so they wont be pushing it. For instance I watched a campaign battle Tau vs. IG and it was Kroots and Suits vs. Sentinels and Guard.
I am willing to answer more questions but what would you guys do?
In such a small game... i think Scarabs are a Must. However, Wraiths with a DLord would be a nice unit to have too.
Why these ridiculous restrictions? 0E, 1FA, 3HS?
Scarabs... hmmm yea they would be key...
If you ever need a campaign I suggest The Chryosis Campaign. Every player (army) gets 650 points and gets to roll 4 times on a table.
1 = Road = 3D6 x 10 pts.
2 = Fast Attack + 10D6 pts.
3 = HQ + 10D6 pts.
4 = Heavy Support + 10D6 pts.
5 = Elite + 10D6 pts.
6 = Special. Roll on another table to get a land that gives you benefit when staked in a battle.
The short is I rolled 2 HS totaling 79 pts. and 2 special lands so I ended up on the low side for starting points. They don't let you start with at least one Elite so they are more rare for whatever reason but you get 1 HS and 1 FA to start. An extra HQ will have to be won just like the Elite.
I think you might be right about the Scarabs.
Hmm, that actually looks like quite an interesting idea. What special lands do your benefits grant you btw? Good luck in the tourney
For my specials I rolled Antedeluvian Battlements and Canopy Village.
When I stake the battlements, I get to place 1-3 bunkers on the battlefields. If I spend a HS choice I can give a bunker a heavy weapon that is rolled randomly on a table. Pretty lame special land.
When Canopy Village is staked, the opposing player may use no infiltration.
There are a bunch of cooler ones, like the Lost Ziggurat that allows ZERO psychic abilities to be used or the Eldar hater, Atmospheric Control Station which makes the whole battle field count as difficult terrain for skimmers.
Thanks for the good luck. If it gets too harry I will get Lord/20Warriors/Monolith and see if I can cheese a win or two.
I will PM you the place I found the rules when I can find them again. I DLed it so I have the PDF but it took me literally 2 hours searching for the rules. It was made for 3rd ed. so some of it is outdated but still completely playable in 4th + ed.
