I realy want to start collecting a tau force, i like the look of commander farsights enclaves suggestions are very welcome,,
I love battle suits by the way but have decided on any combinations yet.
Crisis team: 1
3 fire warrior teams,
devilfish with path finder team
and around 3 gun drone squads (close combat blockers)
any suggestions would be a great help8X:happy:
Hold off until 5thed, its not to far away, this will prevent you from possibly purchasing redundant/less effective models.
yeah, I agree with spartan command you should hold off till 5th edition(28 days to go) because there apparently a new segment to get through in the shooting phase which disadvantages shooty armies like tau.
so for now i'd hold off on the foot infantry and just get battlesuits

Just so you know, post things like this in the armies subforum. I'd suggest delving a bit more into the codex and finding out how you would like these units specifically kitted out, and the points value that you're aiming for.
I would suggest you start small, get what you have to get first (aka 1+ commander and 1+ squad of fire warriors). Then I'd suggest you get one of every kind of unit so that you can get a feel for which units you like, and purchase more of what you think fits your army style. Battleforce boxes can save you a bunch of money on models, and so can e-bay. I suggest thinking really hard about your paint scheme first, and painting every Fire Warrior in that first box you get a different paint scheme so you can see which one you like best in your own handywork. Godspeed!
My gaming group's new motto: That army you're using is overpowered because it hurts my guys, codex is broken and needs a rewrite.
Yep, I agree with the comments thus far and would say hold of on buying models except for what you would have to buy. Also get the codex if you haven't yet, and read the tactica's posted by some of the Tau Gurus. Since you are interested in the suits, the XV8 battlesuit tactica is a must read and will explain some of the jargon, advantages/disadvantages, weapon choices, ect...
I know the Support Systems and Wargear can be a little daunting at first (at least it was for me), but after a close look it will be easy to pick out what is useful.
Cheers for that peoples, i l just get farsight i think and mayby the broadside, thanks for help
You probably better play a regular list before you go Farsight. Farsight as a character is cool, but I don't do a Farsight list because he excludes the force from bringing some neat stuff, and pretty severely restricts what you can bring. Also, his nightmarishly powerful crisis guard has some pretty gaping weaknesses. You kind of need to get used to using crisis suits in general and then decide if you're going to build a force which is entirely suit-based. I love suits but I would never build such a suit-heavy force in 1500 point games.
if u want some cheap but effective range firepower id go for sniper drones. u can get 1 team for just 80 points and it adds a markerlight to your force. plus if u got 3 they can be good power armor killers taking out almost a full squad in 1 round
