Welcome to Librarium Online!
I'm considering entering into my first tournament next month. One of the local GW stores is hosting a 750 point team tourney, and I think I can be ready for it Assuming I don't have to build any new models. So, this is a list based solely off the models I have available to me right now:
1x Shas'el w/ MP, BC, HWMT, TA, HWDC
1x Marker Light Drone
1x Shield Drone
2x BG XV8 MP, BC, HWMT, TA
8x Fire Warrior w/ Shas'ui, BK
8x Fire Warrior w/ Shas'ui, BK
3x Stealth Suits w/ drone controllers
2x Gun Drones
1x Marker Light Drones
Heavy Support 150
2x Broadside Battle Suits MT
Total Points: 750
I enjoy playing static Tau, and so far have not purchased any vehicles, thus the lack of any fish. That said, with static Tau, I should be able to utilize the mobility of the stealth and the HQ squads to push people into my Fire Warriors line of fire. I can also utilize the Fire warrior squads to provide cover for the Broadsides in an attempt to keep them alive alittle longer. I am considering deploying each broadside as its own squad to enable better coverage of the board, although this will depend on how the table is set up.
Please feel free to offer any suggestions, and thanks for your time!
I'd drop the Shield Drone on the HQ. You want to keep them mobile and if you do, the drone won't be able to fire. Same goes for the stealth suits.
I don't like Burst Cannons on suits. They are tempting but IMO, suits have access to weapons that other models can't have, so why take Burst Cannons when all your Pulse Rifles have almost the same stats? Your Stealth Team has them already.
You need a bit of anti-meq. Maybe drop a suit to give your commander and a BG Plasma Rifles.
By the shield drone I assume you mean the Marker Light Drone? In 5th ed Tau jetpacks apparently receive the relentless rule, which I believe will allow Marker Light Drones to shoot even if moving.
I'm not that big a fan of the BCs on the crisis suits either. I was debating dropping some points for the PRs, I'll have to take another look and see what I can come up with.
Thanks for the input.
Mainly, I would drop the bodyguards down to elite status, put them in 2 single-man teams and make them both teamleaders, give them PR, MP, TA, HW-MT, its expensive but they rock. PRs will really help kill most things, especially terminators.
A.S.S is usually more useful on the broadsides than the MT, and put them in 2 seperate single-man teams for mobility and firing flexibility.
Marker drones are also quite expensive but if you dont have the models for pathfinders (which you can just make firewarriors w/ carbines) + devilfish, then that's fine as is.
Good luck in the tournament!

"Your tongues can't repel flavor of that magnitude!"
You should specify if the list is for 4th or 5th!!!!!!!
I still don't like marker dones on anything but stealth suits. They can get hard to reach targets (especially if you're fighting IG or other Tau) and their stealthy shieldy thingy makes thme harder to hit. Your opponent will try to hit your crisis suits with everything they have so putting the drones with stealths is also more points efficient.
