1500 Points. No heavy support. Need help

I just want everything racing forward really, its how I most enjoy games. I really do hate things standing there especially when they miss. Hopefully in the confusion of it all the fire dragons will safely land near an enemy vehicle and take it out then move on to the next one. For light vehicles, maybe the shining spears will change at them, maybe the jetbikes will move to side or rear armour. Am I wrong or do a need something like fireprisms, war walkers/vypers with BLs?

I've being using wraithlords for a while and they just miss and take too long to get there, they just soak up all firepower, a good thing though a want a change.

Flexibility: I can easily swap the guardians for dire avengers if they would work better.

That's a lot of specialist equipment right there... most of it seems tooled for killing masses of marines and that's all it will be much good for. You might try toning it down a bit and fielding a few more models, perhaps take out a squad of shining spears in favor of something that can take out light infantry like striking scorpions or dire avengers. You wont be able to get back armor very easily unless you expose yourself to a lot of incoming fire power so consider getting more long ranged anti tank by slapping a pair of bright lances on those serpents of yours. Honestly I think unless all your opponents are Marines you will have much difficulty using this list and even then you will be very out gunned and need something to take out armor better.

    Summary:
    Major problems
    1. not enough volume of fire
    2. low model count with no heavy artillery
    Suggestions
    1. pick units with different rolls (as it stands your whole army has the roll of taking out heavy infantry)
    2. get more volume of fire or mass close combat ability
    3. get something for heavy armor.

Thanks for the reply, I'm very fond of the shining spears, they always do so well, I can't really drop those. I could easily swap the howling banshees for striking scorpians and guardians for dire avengers, would that be enough? I could also drop some fire dragons in favour of more jetbikes.

It will be at least 75% marines/chaos, I never face horde armies so I don't have a clue but i'd love a chance against them incase I ever run into one.

Hmm well I am a big fan of the dire avengers over guardians, and seeing what they can do to an IG player is just amazing. Regardless of how few points they are it's depressing to pack up over 20 guys from just one squad's shooting and realize that it's only just begun. If you are going against a lot of chaos I must change what I said earlier and say Scorps are a bad idea and Banshees will serve your purposes much better. I still stand by my idea that bright lances would work better for you than the roaming bikers. If you would like to see what I use along this same vein we can do so through PM. (note that this may change a bit when 5th takes over)

The guardian jet bikers are really there to put the attention of the shining spears. I think I will be using the dire avengers, they havn't had my deserved attention especially since there catapult range was increased to 18".

I have most of these models, expect the wave serpents so I can do plenty of play testing. Think the wave serpents will be worth it? The things open to the most change are the 2 units in the waveserpents, I could swap one of these for maybe 2 fire prisms? war walkers? The thing is I've had such bad luck with brightlances that I was something almost guaranteed to take a tank out, I use to use fire dragons a few years bag and they used to take out vehicles with ease.

Yes fire dragons can take out vehicles easily but can often be overkill and a lot of wasted firepower, for this reason I usually field these guys with an exarch with the DBF and maybe an exarch power if points permit. If you are attached to the bikers consider splitting them into 2 squads and dropping the odd biker in favor of the dragon exarch with crack shot (don't remember the exact points cost of CS so this may not work). this has never failed me regardless of my opponent, just keep them in their taxi until things that can kill them are out of range or dead (or about to be melted ).

No eldar list is complete without a farseer, and others have already mentioned, 10 fire dragons in a Serpent doesn't make much sense.

First off, 10 dragons is a waste of ponits, put 6 of those bad boys in a falcon, and you will tear shit up As for the gaurdians they are crap unless you just want a ton of models on the board. DA kick ass, bladestorm will save you in a pinch. As for the jetbikes, against MEQs I find them great tar pits and for missions that require territory siezure they are priceless. but they are by no means a main effort. The thing about eldar is that no one army list should be the same. It varies depending on your opponent. So you should post up who you are playing before asking advice. Although I find the Banshees and harlies to be lifesavers every time regardless of my opponent.

Hmm Im just going to put my fav eldar unit out there..

    Farseer, jetbike, spear + storm..

Its works out cheaper than your autarch + storm is great against tanks spinning them for your str6 weapons. Allows you to be a bit cheeky with what can take out a tank. (How about banshees shuri-pistoling the back of a lem-russ)
Storm is also great for throwing into the middle of horde armies, the big pie plate doesnt lie (wish it was a higher str though.,..)

Right, the 10 fire dragons is too much, i think I have scrapped the idea of no heavy support after reading through 5th ed. I think I'll be taking 2, maybe even 3 fire prisms now that they're more likely to hit.
