Hey everyone just thought I'd ask for some support/help....I'm going up against an Eldar player (with more experience at this then myself) he plays Eldar and I play 'Nids (did the title give that away?) Last time I played him I had no mutations and well I got my bugs handed to me by the second turn.
Rough draft of Nid army list:
>One unit of 3 winged Warriors suited up for CC (rending claws/scything talons) I don't know if I should use feeders or not? What about extended carapace?[These guys are going to go after vehicles and tough melee units]>One unit of 3 Warriors armed with Devourers[Shooty bugs try to just throw out a wave of shots and hope to hit]>Lictors?[I don't know if they would be worth taking or not? Maybe tank hunters?]>One unit of two Zoanthropes w/ catalyst and/or Warp blast[figure catalyst would atleast let me hit back since I cant beat his initiative]>One Carnafix Maybe with a barbed strangler and venom cannon[I doubt he would be any use in CC against the Eldar]>Around 20 termagaunts (maybe spinagauts would be better?) w/ out numbers[Throw out enough shots and maybe I'll hit something?]>Around 28 Hormagaunts (I'm not sure if I should mutate or not)[Try to hack down some of his Eldar with numbers]>around 12 Genestealers (maybe with feeders)
Alright I really need help against this guy, I've looked through the Eldar codex some but I honestly don't have any idea what units to throw at who.....
I know he will be using the following (numbers/gear uncomfirmed)
The problem I had last time was he just hacked my broods to pieces shooting a ton of shots each round and I just couldn't seem to hurt him. I know Eldar are specialists so I HAVE to hit certain squads with certain broods to have a chance. My normal 'swarm and eat everything!' style won't work here. Normally I just hold the powerful guys in melee with gaunts until I can get one of my heavy hitters over to him.
Help me hive mind your my only hope....
Hey, i happened to paly nids and have an eldar fren too, although he plays falcons and harlequins. Against eldar, since you are playing nids, what i would suggest is that you decide a specific kind of tyranid force you are intending to field. Personally, i would go all assaulty, and the main idea here is to rush your eldar friend as fast as he can before you are shot to pieces. I think what i would include is afew winged tyranid warriors to maintain synapse and with rending to do some killing. Then also include genestealers with ec and scuttlers- gives them a good advantage and they wont die so quickly to small arms fire. Lastly, i would include many hormagaunts- the more the merrir, to quickly race up to the enemy and since they have leaping, and are beats, and can move through cover, they will reach your eney lines and tie them in cc until your genestealers and winged warriors step in to finish them off. For me, i would also include a hive tyrant, partly beacuse they are cool, but also very distracting to the enemy- ie a tyrant with wings rushing down th eflank is kinda intimidating, and the venom cannon armed tyrant can also take out vehicles. Not to mention it can block los. So yeah, hope this helps, play more games and experience the true joy of fielding large shredding tyranid armies.
Unfortunately I do not have a Tyrant, I was looking at a Brood Lord his infiltrate and the fact he can bring 'stealers with him could help put some pressure on. I tried rushing his lines and that got me creamed. He just puts down too much fire power for me to go pure assault on him. Thats why I was thinking throw some termigaunts, ranged warriors (no wings) and a sniperfex to hammer a few of his assault units and tanks.
Thanks for the input, I think I need more genestealers, switch my termigaunts to spinegaunts (they may not be very powerful but they can put down alot of fire).

Try and make as much use of the available cover to reduce the number of shots coming towards.
I'd use your sniperfex to tackle his avengers as these guys will do a lot of shots at your gaunst though if the avengers use the bladestorm then can't fire the next turn.
why would you use a CC squad to go tank-hunting against eldar? you'd never hit him. Ue barbed stranglers, spore mines and so on to decimate his aspect warriors. Shoot down any striking scorpions, they completely own tyranids.
My sniperfix with barbed strangler and venom cannon should be able to do a lot of damage to a squad, ok so Avengers and tanks will be prime targets for my Sniperfex. Thank you, I just didn't know which units could do what so I didn't know who to throw at what.Too much time going against marines I suppose..heh it is pretty silly, imagine a brood of genestealers running behind a hover tank its like Coyote running after Roadrunner...but with guns. Ok so try to sniperfex the scorpions I was planing to use two broods of Warriors, one winged cc (set of 3) and one with ranged weapons, any suggestions for what to give the warriors? I guess throwing genestealers at a heavy shooty squad would work and I was thinking of taking Zoanthropes for synaps and catalyst (since he's going to be swinging first most of the time in melee)
