Welcome to Librarium Online!
I'm planning on getting my first ever Necron army... I plan to purchase the battleforce, but here are my 2 choices:
Choice 1: Lol It's basic!
HQ: Walking Lord with VoD
6 or 7 scarab swarms (Most likely with D. Fields)
Choice 2: Lots of things
HQ: Walking Lord with VoD
6 or 7 scarabs (d-fields most likely)
6 Flayed Ones
How would I fare with each list? Which one's better? etc.
Are these both 1k lists?
I like the first one better but I have a few suggestions....
First drop the VOD on the lord and get another destroyers. D fields on the scarabs is'nt to great. If you do that it brings you up to around 876 so I would say maybe add some wargear on the lord.
Whatever you find fun lol you could probably just throw VOD back on.
Well you add roughly 300 points on the second list, so it's really not fair to say that it's better.
Both lists look fine to me. However I suggest avoiding Veil of Darkness when you're not fielding immortals and swapping out for a resorb instead.
Also Scarab d-fields will not be necessary or useful in low point games. (or high point games)
XD when u make 2 lists make em both same points. cuz of wat i c now the 2nd list just has immortals and flayed ones added XD
I would highly recommend getting 2 tomb spyders instead of the 6 flayed ones. Roughly the same points cost, but thanks to the new majority toughness rules, tomb spyders can get up to 5 toughness 6 3+ save wounds after generating 1 scarab swarm! They are faster due to run and are decent in combat.
Warriors work best in minimum sized squads so I'd say 2 or 3 units of 10.
Also, VoD is not as useful as you think. I've rarely had a chance to teleport any unit out of combat because they get swept away most of the time.
Scarab swarms are very useful but don't give them the d fields upgrade. Their main function is tying up units.
Immortals are good but a single squad of 6 is a bit small. Either boost to 8 or get 2 squads of 5.
Hope this helps
I usually say that less than 8 immortals is a bad call but in 1k games it's a resonable amount.
Blutac I understand your point, however Imanoob is going for monetary effieciancy and spyders are not at all cheap. As much as I like them you CAN play without them.
Also, p0lak, use actual words, netspeak isn't allowed. Decent grammar would be nice as well.
Yes, I'm sorry about the difference in points between the 2 lists. What I meant is, when faced with another army of the same points, how would it fare?
So the VoD isn't actually that good? I liked the idea of getting out of combat quick, since all my friends play armies that can put the hurt down in CC.
As for Spyders, the idea sounds good, but I want to get a basic army down first. Spyders sound like they take a bit more strategy than Warriors, destroyers, etc.
Alzer, if you think about it 6 metal flayed ones come to 21 quid and 2 tomb spyders come to 24 quid... so not that much of a difference in terms of money.
I'm currently making my own tomb spyders though...lol
He's using warriors to convert flayed ones out of though, not buying the metal ones, so actually it is a bit more expensive.
Imanoob, against another 1k army that list is rather balanced for just about anything you can face, tanks could and superheavy infantry could pose a problem.
VoD is as good as you make it. Personally I've always found it makes up for it's points cost well. There are many pros and con to it's use. The dangers are that you can scatter off the board, as well as getting caught in your enemie' forces. It can work with warriors, however Immortals are a far better choice. Using it as a combat escape method isn't a horrible idea either really.
As for tombspyders, they aren't that complicated. You get a big spyder that's good at getting in the way and smashing things.
