Welcome to Librarium Online!
With a few tweaks I've made my army a bit more suited to fifth edition. Its had some minor use in a friendly game ( I lost) and I'm looking for glaring oversights on what might now be useless in fifth so as to iron out the kinks.
Hard-wired Multi-tracker 97pts
Two XV8 Battlesuits
Twin Linked Missile Pods
Hard-wired Target Lock 116pts
Six Stealth Suits
Hard-wired Target Lock
Hard-wired Drone Controller
Marker Drone 220pts
Twelve Fire Warriors
Disruption Pod 220pts
Ten Kroot Carnivores
Four Kroot Hounds 94pts
Ten Kroot Carnivores
Three Kroot Hounds 88pts
Disruption Pod 165pts
It would be cheaper to just give the stealth suit leader a marker-light though then it isn't networked. You could even give him a multi-tracker to shoot both weapons and have some points left over.
IMO the twin-linked Missile Pods and Targeting Array is excessive. I guess it keeps it cheap, I just wouldn't want to go up against armored foes (SM, CSM,Necrons, etc...) w/out more AP.
3 Troops for 1000 point army seems good. What did you recently play against?
I played against Chaos marines. His army consisted of a rhino full of bezerkers with a lord, a rhino full of regular csm, some daemons and two lascannon preds.
He played a very good game against me as he got first turn and managed to take out my devilfish and destroy my railgun with the preds (the board was pretty light on terrain) after which he basically just whupped me in cc. I also made the mistake of ignoring his rhinos after he disembarked from them and he ended up tank shocking my Fw off the board and using the other to hem in my stealths before he charged em.
he obviously understood 5th edition rules better than I did but you are right about the lack of ap3 or below weapons against meqs. What do suggest i drop to rectify this?
I would drop some of the stealths, just keep a markerlight or two to make sure the AP3 and better squads hit. The bigger squad would be good against other stuff (demons) and the big squad does let 1 ML help alot of guns so I see the appeal (KP-wise too) but the 3+ save CSM get from this cool multishot, good strength gatling gun would just frustrate me. You could always give the leader w/ the ML a 'hidden' Fusion Blaster for a couple points just in case he can get in close with a Pred.
You could use a battlesuit railgun instead of the Hammerhead. You probably won't use the blast anyway and you can throw in some drones so he can't be killed in one shot. If you enjoy the Hammerhead or don't have any XV88 I wouldn't worry about switching. Much more from me and it will look like my list.
If you are just trying to get some plasma on the XV8s you can just skim 2 models from each troop or so. Drop a stealth. Hey, maybe you could split the stealth suits up and have two fusions to flank march/deep strike against tanks too. Take some pressure off the Hammerhead. 1000 points isn't alot though. Those tanks must've been 1/3 to 1/2 his army.
What would you say to the idea of dropping two stealths and the multi-tracker on my HH (since I only really need to fire my railgun) and getting a single Fireknive XV8 and another kroot hound?
