hard wired multi tracker
5 kroot hounds
5 kroot hounds
12 fire warriors
3 stealth suits
8 gun drones
I have a bit of everything and I think this should do quite well against all opponents
Thanks for any replies
Anyone? I really need help deciding what models to buy. Also, is it a good idea to infiltrate kroot and stealth suits?
The HQ is fine, if you are confident of your ability to get the XV8 close enough to use the weaponry. You can use the gun drones to protect him. If you are not confident then simply take a missile pod in place of the Fusion.
The Kroot squads need work. I would lose the Shaper for a start, they are to expensive and offer no real advantage. I would also trim the Kroot to 10 strong and take 2 squads of 10 with 5 Kroot hounds each and another unit of 10 Kroot. This will allow you more flexibility and will also make the units more survivable by the virtue of smaller untis being easier to utilise cover, infiltrate easier and also three units means the oppositions fire is split between three units.
The Stealth squad is a bit of a mixed bag, what do you want it to do? If you want it to marker light then you are better of losing the Fusion. The ML cannot be used to help the Stealth unit, so you are stuck with either using the ML to light a target for another unit (and the Stealth unit have to fire at the same target) and possibly not utilising the Stealths guns. If you want the unit to armour hunt then you really should not be taking the ML. On a side note Stealths do very poorly at armour hunting, so Fusion is very rarely useful on these.
I would think about what you want this unit to do because as it stands I would lose it and take a some Deathrains instead or a Pthfinder unit. The DR unit would be much more helpful.
If the Fire Warrior squad is going to use the Devilfish then the ML is a bad idea. Even if they do not use the DF the ML is still a bad idea. ML's simply restrict the FW squad to much, if you want to shoot it then you cannot move and again it is restricted to shooting the same target as the FW's. I would simply lose this. If you want a ML unit then take Pathfinders (losing the Stealths should pay for most of them) and use their Devilfish to transport the Fire Warriors (simply lose the FW Devilfish and use the PF's DF instead). You will get more markerlights and you will not be restricting the FW's mobility and the FW's can be used to much better effect in the DF.
Hope thats a start and gives you some ideas.

So are you saying markerlights should only come from pathfinders? What are deathrains and how do you use stealth suits effectively?

PF's are the most cost effective ML's, anything else and you are paying for its durability. It just depends on what how much you want and how you want it.
The Death Rain is a Twin Linked Missile Pod w/ X 3rd Hard Point. A TA or a Flamer is a good choice for the 3rd Hard Point.
SS are most effective when they take nothing.
Go get a game in or two and let us know how it went.
if you have a money issue and cant aford to buy pathfinders then heres a cheaper way to get alot of markerlights. Take a firewarior team with the leader having a ML. then u get 2 ML drones. multiply this by 3 and youll have alot of MLs as well as alot of rifles(or carbines if u want to try for pinning). this will also give you a good firing base as well as more troop choices for capturing once you have the enemy wittled down
