New to Eldar - 1000 point Balanced

    Hi all,

I am new to Warhammer 40k and have decided to play as Eldar. This my first attempt at a balanced 1000 point Eldar army. Comments and advice are more then welcomed.

    HQ:
    Farseer (120 points)
    Doom
    Guide
    Spirit Stone

    Elites:
    (8x)Striking Scorpions (160 points)
    Exarch w/ power claw
    Stalker

    (5x) Fire Dragons (92 points)
    Exarch

    Troops:
    (10x) Guardians (135 points)
    Warlock w/ conceal
    Scatter Laser

    (10x) Dire Avengers (152 points)
    Exarch w/ dual catapults
    Blade Storm

    Heavy Support:
    (3x) War Walkers (180 points)
    All with Scatter Lasers

    Falcon (160 points)
    Cannon Upgrade
    Shuriken Cannon
    Sprit Stone
    Vectored Engines

    Total = 999

Since I haven’t even played a game yet I really don’t have a strategy formed. I was thinking the Farseer would go with the Dire Avengers and the Fire Dragons would go in the Falcon.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I did some thinking and made a few changes. I dropped the warlock since the guardians should be behind cover anyways. I dropped the Exarch from the Dragons and the extra cannon on the Falcon. I swapped one of the walkers weapons from two scatter lasers to two bright lances.

Here is a re-worked list, I still have 33 points left. Enough for 2 more scorpions or would shadow strike be a better use of the points?

    HQ:
    Farseer (120 points)
    Doom
    Guide
    Spirit Stone

    Elites:

    Exarch w/ power claw
    Stalker

    (5x) Fire Dragons (80 points)

    Troops:
    (10x) Guardians (95 points)
    Scatter Laser

    (10x) Dire Avengers (152 points)
    Exarch w/ dual catapults
    Blade Storm

    Heavy Support:
    (3x) War Walkers (210 points)
    2 with scatter lasers
    1 with Bright Lance

    (1x)Falcon (150 points)
    Shrunken Cannon
    Sprit Stone
    Vectored Engines

    Total = 967

Not sure why the Farseer has fortune, doom would make a better choice.

Scorpions with infiltrate provide a lot of flexibility, considering the new outflank choice.

Guardians could probably do with a warlock with conceal, unless you intend to keep them in cover all game.

The Falcon needs holofields more than it needs vectored engines.

The Farseer has fortune because he is going to go with the walker who will be staying in cover.

I wasn't sure what would be more useful, the engines or the halo fields. Sounds like I should swap them out.

With the extra points I got Shadow Strike for the Scorpions and added a Exarch to the Dragons with Crackshot and the flamer.

Only qualms i have with the list is that you have only two troop choices and neither are being protected well. your scorpions are the only contesting unit so at best you'll have two objective and contest one of the opponents. Being that war sucks and elfdar die, the grim reality is you'll probably have only one unit left or uncontested at the end. In other words the likely scenario is you tie with the option of losing. On the plus side you'll definately put the hurt on his infantry blocks, so maybe he won't have much scoring ability left either.

I agree with badxample your troops are vulnerable... especially your guardians. I would drop either the flamer or crackshot on the exarch of the fire dragons or both and the exarch for a regular model. I would add a warlock to the guardians with either conceal or at least embolden to keep them from running. You have AT here but I think again it is to vulnerable. The falcon and the Fire dragons are your only AT and they will be in the same place at the same time since the falcon is carrying them. I would give two of your war walkers EML they can fire the krak at tanks to add to the AT or fire some devestating plasma rounds at enemy infantry. Just some points to look over.
