30 Ork Boyz
29 Ork Boyz
29 Ork Boyz
3 Mega Armoured Nobz
Red Paint Job
2 Killa Kans
2 Killa Kans
4 Big Shootaz
Ok heres what ive come up with. Pretty much everything goes with the footslogging boyz and runs up, under cover of the KFF, the battlewagon is a big target, meant to shield my Killa Kans and Trukk. Grotz go to ground on an objective in my table half all game. Everything else seems self explanatory.
Thanks in advance
You had me right up until the killa kans with big shootas. I love killa kans with a passion that borders on unholy (my love of bosspoles actually is unholy, but that's besides the point), but you're wasting their good ballistics skill on anti-infantry shots which your list already has in absolute abundance.
What the list doesn't have are troops that can deal with 2+ armor saves and inflict instant death. That's where kustom mega blastas come in. After a few games experimenting, I now refuse to give the killa kans anything else. Accept no substitutes.
Also, I'd add one more model to the unit of lootas. 13 would be harder to panic then 12, and since lootas have a poor leadership save, this is significant. If you don't have a loota, I'd just add a mek with either a big shoota or kmb. You don't actually need a mek model, you can just use a regular boy with a big shoota.
The rest is just nitpicking:
I'd give some bosspoles to the units of boyz on foot. They're not as necessary in large units, but they still consistently keep units in play at least one turn longer than normal, and that's long enough to do some real damage.
The meganobz would probably be better off with a warboss in mega armor than anything else...unless you're not planning to put them with him? If you are, he really needs a bosspole, since the meganobz don't have one on their own. If you're planning to put him with the boyz on foot, you're better off keeping the bosspole on the unit of boyz.
The battlewagon with the big shootas and lobba seems like overkill. Why a lobba? You can use it without line of sight, but then you can't fire the big shootas. If you're just covering it with big shootas, a looted wagon would be far more cost effective. I generally only use battlewagons as transports. Nothing else really seems worth the points. If you like it, then go for it, but the lobba probably doesn't make sense.
Again, that's mostly just nitpicking. The main issue is getting your killa kans some more appropriate weapons, and keeping the lootas alive. Besides that, the list looks good. Good luck!
I wouldn't use a dread. I'm not a fan of deff dreads besides for fluffy reasons. They cost about the same as an imperial dread, but they're only about half as useful. Not a good deal. If I do use one for fun, I just give it 2 big shootas and grot riggers, but the points are always better spent on more boyz, lootas or killa kans.
Why would the killa kans be running? With a WS of 2, they aren't a unit you generally want to throw into close combat. They're strong enough to make very successful counter-assaults, but if they're the ones being assaulted, they won't win unless the other unit doesn't have a way of hurting them. I use them as a versatile shooty unit that can also sneak attack units that don't have a way of hurting them. I wouldn't run them though. Depending on the army I'm facing, I sometimes hold them in reserve, to leap out and take down monstrous creatures and terminators. They tend to die if they're running out in the open, and it's a waste of perfectly good shooting.
If you're going for a 'distraction', I'd use rokkit buggies instead of looted wagons. Still, a looted wagon covered in guns, or with a boomgun is a nice distraction. I wasn't a fan of the battlewagon with all the guns because it was too much of a point sink. Units that serve as distractions are usually best when they're cheap enough to be expendable. It's up to you.
