1500 pts. Ulthwe does this work?

Hi I have seen a guy at the local play this army, and I was wondering if you guys would post some thoughts.

    HQ:
    Elrad
    2x warlocks with conceal
    Avatar

    Troops:
    10 guardians scatter laser
    10 guardians scatter laser
    10 guardians scatter laser
    10 guardians scatter laser
    10 guardians scatter laser

    Elites:
    9 scopians with claw
    9 scopians with claw

    Heavy:
    wraithlord brightlance and sword
    wraithlord brightlance and sword

The tactic is to place the guardians around the avatar so they become fearless.
infront of the guardians youplace two lines of scopions with warlocks - giving the guardians 4+ cover.
in between the two scopion units eldrad i placed, eldrad uses fortune on both scopion units - reroll 3+ and 5+ cover from conceal. on eather side of this formation you place your wraithlords - antitank and protection.

let me hear what you think of the list and the tactic.

A question born of not being sure myself...

Are Warlocks considered Independent Characters? You have them splitting off from Eldrad and moving to the Scorpions, who couldn't normally take a Warlock on their own (like Guardians/Farseers can).

No, they are not - they have to stick to Guardians (separately of course) if less then three, or form a unit if three or more.

In theory, yes, it works to have a concealed squad in front of the others. You will however have to change your tactics with the warlocks. They can only be given to Guardian units or made into a squad that can be taken with the farseer. The squad of warlocks is just an HQ squad that takes up no space on force org and thus can not join other squads like ICs. You could have 2 squads of guardians that are more assault based to push toward the enemy, perhaps storm guardian squads, and give these 2 squads conceal warlocks.
Never apologise for asking questions young seers, through asking
questions we find answers, and through those answers we gain
knowledge of ourselves and the universe around us
