I'm playing casually with 3 of my roommates, and we planned a 1k point round robin tournament, and I wanted some feedback on my list. I'll be playing against Tyranids, Orks, and either Space Marines or Necrons. (I don't know enough about their lists to define what their playstyle will be in the tournament.)
Shas'o Commander : 145 pts
Shas'el Commander : 97 pts
Stealth Team : 250 pts
6x suits (all with Targetting arrays), one upgraded to Team leader, w/ a Bonding Knife.
2x Fire Warrior teams : 250 pts
10x Shas'la (3 w/ Carbine, 7 w/ Rifle)
1x Shas'ui w/ rifle and Bonding knife
Kroot Squad : 77 pts
Hammerhead : 180 pts
Total 999 pts
In 1000pt battles, I used to go with only 2 troops, but I later found the third troop very helpful in hold missions. I usually try to make my suits do a great deal of the work, with the railhead dealing with some bigger targets. I still need to find my niche that works with my firewarriors; I feel i'm not getting enough use from them. Is it worth it to drop out something to get a devilfish in there for one team?

id drop the shas'el and get a devilfish cause in 1k battles u dont really need 2 hqs. id also switch the sms on the hammerhead for BCS cause u get 2 more shots at only 6" less range.
remove the shas´el and the stelthsuits and add battlesuits
I would say drop the stealth team as it is more of a point sink at this level and replace with battle suits. Have you considered a helios team? Seeing what your up against it will be useful against at least 2 of those armies especially if you use it as an HQ choice. People will tell you it's risky and not worth it but they forget that tau are most effective shooting at close range, the trick is to make sure the opposing unit is wiped out. Don't forget it is entirely up to you what you do with your army we are just giving advice as to some of the units you might like to try. Whatever you choose hope it goes well.
