    1st necron match ever.

I would like to play my necrons in a match against eldar this Thursday. Ain't played em even once, and would love some help getting army list together.

    Playing 1500pts, probably objective scenario.

    I have to hand,

    1 Monolith ( in bits )
    1 Destroyer Lord
    2 Lord
    3 Wraith
    5 Flayed One
    7 Destroyer
    11 Scarabs
    45 Warrior (+ 24 on blisters )

With eldar having them H-wire grenades worth even taking a lith?

For your first battle, that's alot of specialized units. When I played my first Necron battle I ignored my wraiths and flayed ones to learn the strengths of your core army. Then after 3-5 battles I started throwing in more.

As to your list, I would take
All 7 destroyers (seriously great units!)
1 Lord with Res Orb (support warriors)
    30 Warriors (3 squads of 10 )
1 Monolith (your call here, but I love my monolith! I field 2 in 2k)
(That's 1265 pts, then decide for yourself what your fillers are)

Haywire grenades are hardly a reason to not take a Monolith, it's a great tank and will probably do its job before the grenades become an issue. I'll agree with Dark Trainer here, Warriors and a Lord are really the units you want to learn Necrons with. It won't be the list to beat everybody, but it should hold its own and give you experience to know where you want to go with your army list.

7 Destroyers would be brutal, and probably best is split into two squads. Scarabs would be good for stopping aforementioned Haywire grenade carrying units, lol.

Hope you enjoy yourself with the Necrons, they can be enjoyable.

As stated above this, yes. The monolith even when glanced to death the MAIN portal and template weapon Cannot be destroyed. Even if it's immobilized you have 48" diameter (24" range) on the table for pure template nailing, or 18" portalling!

Since glances cannot destroy a lith anymore, and only PENETRATION with a roll of 5 or 6, the odds of that happening are upped significantly for you to resist major damage. Also if you're worried about the lith, I suppose you could keep it in back as a support for the warriors, but I wouldn't!

    My list finalized for tonight.

I know he'll have dreadnoughts and skimmers.

    Lord:
    phase shifter
    phylactery
    res orb
    scythe

    Warriors:
    3 squads of 11

    Destroyers:
    2 squads of 3

    Scarabs:
    4 squads of 3

    Monolith

    What is my phase out?

Scarabs and Destroyers are both Fast Attack units, of which you can only have 3 units, so I would advise:

    3 Destroyers
    3 Destroyers
    10 Scarabs

Phase out is 25% of all your "Necrons". Warriors and Destroyers are "Necrons", but Scarabs and Monolith are not. So, with your current list, you will have 40 total Necrons, so you will phase out at 10.
