    1000 pt returning player

Hey everyone, I haven't played 40k in at least 2 years and i'm trying to get back into the game. I made a 1000 pt list for league play. i've been reading around the forum to try and not make common mistakes. i have like 40 pts left over and don't know how to spend them. so here's the list:

    HQ
    Shas'el
    -PR, MP, TA, HWMT
    97 pts

    Elite
    Shas'ui
    -twinlinked fusion, PR, HWMT
    68 pts

    Shas'ui
    -PR, MP, TA, HWMT
    72 pts

    Stealth suits x4
    120 pts

    Troops
    Fire warrior x12
    120 pts

    Fire warriors x12
    120pts

    Fast
    Pathfinder x6
    Warfish
    -TA, SMS, MT, DL
    192pts

    Heavy
    Hammerhead
    -RG, BC, TA, MT, DL
    170 pts

    total: 959

I like it, although i would make the following changes:

Swap the fusion suit for a Deathrain with TA.

Drop one FW unit and with the points saved above, the 40pts spare and the 120pts you save, buy two biggish Kroot units, they are cheap, durable in cover, and scoring - and they are not half bad for their cost .

Other than that I think that this list is just fine, and closely matches my 1k competitive list in the non-troops choices (I field more crisis instead of stealths, but stealths are great against horde armies and I would swap out to stealths if playing a pre-arranged match where there are GEQ around).

Kroot will save your (and theTaus) bacon repeatedly though, so make use of your allies .

If your looking for a way to add 40 pts, try adding a shas'ui to your firewarriors and add a bonding knife, hey never hurts to make your troop a little bit stronger.

Am I reading correctly when I se that you put a targetting Array on the hammerhead? I think you meant a DP, since you cannot put another one there (they come equipped) and you do not already have one on it.

I am not a fan of your Fusion suit, it would be better done as a Helios HQ unit (Shas'el w/ FB, PR, TA, HWMT). if you REALLY need a tank-hunter, then a Sunforge (TLFB, TA) will serve you better.

I am a big fan of the Kroot. Thus far, they've been worth their weight in gold to my army in every game I've played. If you can manage to free up some points, then a squad of them will not run you amiss (you can do it from your present list by cutting your FW squads to 10 each)
I fight for the Greater Good. Too bad for you it's MY Greater Good.

    Snow Forces of T'olku W/L/D : 3-4-2... I like to think I'm learning, though.

Thanks for the replies. heres the revised list.

    Shas'el
    PR, MP, TA, HWMT
    97

    Shas'ui
    TL MP, TA
    53

    Shas'ui
    PR, MP, TA, HWMT
72 ( i would have made this one deathrain as well but i'm lacking a missile pod to show on the model.)

    Stealth suits x3
    90

    Fire warrior x12
    120

    Fire warriors x12
    120

Kroot x12 (that's all i own. i might buy more in the future if i like them. i don't think i liked them too much when i used to play.)
    84

    Pathfinders x6
    Devilfish
TA, SMS, MT, DL (this is the warfish configuration, correct?)
    192

    Hammerhead
    RG, BC, DP, MT
    165

    Total: 993

i think i'm gonna bond one of the FW squads with the extra points.

    HQ:

    Lovely.

    ELITES:
    Shas'ui
    TL MP, TA
    53

    Nice.

    Shas'ui
    PR, MP, TA, HWMT
72 ( i would have made this one deathrain as well but i'm lacking a missile pod to show on the model.)

Illegal unfortunately, to get access to hard wired systems he needs to be a shas'ui team leader. Otherwise good.

    Stealth suits x3
    90

Need more suits to be effective, at least 4, although i personally only use them in full teams.

    Fire warrior x12
    120

If you upgrade them give them a shas'ui, but no knife, its situational and fairly useless, disregarding moments of insane disregard for probability.

    Fire warriors x12
    120

Kroot x12 (that's all i own. i might buy more in the future if i like them. i don't think i liked them too much when i used to play.)

Kroot are great, they're basically cheap objective holders, get more if you're planning on getting a larger force.

    Pathfinders x6
    Devilfish
TA, SMS, MT, DL (this is the warfish configuration, correct?)
    192

Cut the warfish back to a devilfish with Distruption pods (which are better than DL's now), cheaper and gives you the points to spend on something else.

    Hammerhead
    RG, BC, DP, MT
    165

    nice

i think i'm gonna bond one of the FW squads with the extra points.
