Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hey guys i am thinking about going to the devourer tournament with my necrons, on saturday im playing a game against a vet with his wazzdakka ork biker mob....
any ideas on tactics...(i dont really want to change my list)
Lord w/res orb
Lord w/res orb
i know that he has wazzdakka (of course) the entire army is on bikes and that their is a unit of 5 nobs with feel no pain.
Those Monolith's scare me a bit, and I'm a Necron player myself!
Scarabs can be useful to lock down that Feel no Pain squad for a turn. And I think you'll be needing those two Orbs, no argument there.
Since his army will be on your table edge faster then you can say 'blue-berry pie', alright maybe not that fast, but fast! So it might be wise to include some units that are mobile and have firepower. Can you guess? Of course, I was thinking Destroyers. Dropping 1 Monolith will let you include 4 Destroyers and 2 additional Scarab Swarms.
IMO you could use the additional mobility combined with firepower of the Destroyers so that the probability of all his units touching down on your Warriors will decrease (even more).
The two Monoliths you'll have left, should be enough to keep a rather massive Phalanx and keep Warriors out of CC. With two Orbs on the table, my guess is you'll be saving a lot of Warriors. Losing by Phase-Out will still be almost impossible!
cool i like the changes... but couldnt the pie plates and side weapons (the name escapes me) be able to deal with them and as for speed i have 3 teleports a turn (i may get the veil instead of the scarabs so every unit can teleport.
I don't think you need Veil, since they will be coming your way as fast as they can. It would be better to have both Lords w/Orbs at the side of your Warriors. You could use the Destroyers (if you field them) to, for instance, turbo-boost over the field and start blasting in their backs. It won;t give you any bonus for shooting in the back, but you will give your opponent two choices. 1.) let them be... in which case you can happily blast further or 2.) He'll decide to split up his army and you Phalanx will prevail!
Sort of the same trick could be done with the Scarabs, though I would put them on a suicide mission to get that Feel no Pain unit.
EDIT: I see now that your list as posted above is 1765 Pts. This would mean that dropping 1 Monolith gives you 4 Destroyers and 20 Pts. left over. Best choice imo, 1 additional Swarm or maybe a Gaze of Flame for a Lord.
