So I'm new warhammer 40k and started playing with all my friends. Looking at everything I chose Eldar (plus it's the only race no one is playing in our group). We're playing 500 pt games and I made an army list from the Battleforce box set and a Farseer. I was wondering if any of you more experienced players can give me some hints or tips to improve my army and such. Thanks for any compliments/criticism.

5x Dire Avengers - 102
-Exarch, bladestorm, power weapon, shimmershield
10x Guardians - 105
Waveserpent - 150
-Star engines, scatter laser, shuriken cannon, spirit stones
1x War Walker - 70
-Scatter laser, Starcannon
Thanks again for any help. So any gun or ability changes? I'm trying to make this balanced because I'm going against almost every race. Scatter laser against regular units and starcannons against marines and hqs for their annoying armor save. I tried using EML but I always miss with the scatter dice. Up to 510 pts max.
I've actually done a number of proxy games with the eldar battleforce flexing it out and this is what I've found:
Doomseer = money in the bank. Easy pick.
Dire Avengers - sadly you really need to go buy a couple more of these. It kinda sucks that they only give you 5 of them.
Guardians - Scatter Lasers are your pick here. The number of shots mitigates their low BS, and the 36" range keeps them out of harms way holding rear objectives, but still maintaining effectiveness
Wave Serpent - Take advantage of the twin-linked and put your heavy one-shots on here. At 500 pt games I prefer the EML. Great anti-vehicle and the blast is AP4 Pinning. Seriously ... twin linked AP 4 pinning blast? Yes please. With sugar on top.
War Walkers - I tend to play these guys like the guardians - put 2 scatter lasers on them for 8 STR 6 shots a turn. Again, multitude of shots mitigates their low BS, and the range keep their paper-thin armour out of harm's way
Here's what I typically run:
Doomseer w/ Singing Spear (83)
10 Guardians w/ Scatter Laser (95)
9 Dire Avengers, Exarch+Dual Cats, Bladestorm (142)
Wave Serpent w/ TL EML ( 120 )
War Walker w/ 2x Scatter Laser ( 60 )
= 500 pts on the dot.
Strategy wise I play what I call the "24 inch dance of death". Ride the farseer with the avengers in the wave serpent. He can doom from within a transport - so hooray. You want to be within 24" so you can doom, and then zip up with your wave serpent so your dire avengers are barely within 18" and bladestorm. The sheer multitude of shots with re-rollable rolls to wound can usually take down anything with an armour save (I've taken down everything from a truck full of orks to demon princes with them).
Meanwhile your guardians and war walkers focus on light vehicles and whatever else they can see. Plays really well as long as your careful.
Although I guess that's true of any Eldar army

Oh yeah - great thing about the box set is that the eldar heavy weapons fit on anything. So between the guardians' platform, your walker, and your wave serpent you'll have plenty of heavy weapon sprues.
Which is *just* enough for 2 scatter lasers on your walker, and one on your guardian platform.
Now isn't that just great!

Sounds good, a twin-linked Eml sounds like it can fix my bad luck with scattler dice, thanks again.
